Amarillo Slim Loses On The River

Amarillo Slim Preston and another player got all the money in before the flop, with Slim holding {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and the other player pocket nines. The {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} looked to be a good one for Amarillo Slim, though the {8-Spades} on the turn most certainly wasn't a good card, as it gave his opponent an open-ended straight draw. And that's what did Slim in, the {10-Diamonds} on the river that made the other player's straight. That loss dropped Amarillo Slim down to 18,000.

Joy Winter Eliminated

An unknown player raised from the button, enough to put Joy Winter all in. Short-stacked, she made the call with {K-Spades}{8-Spades} from the small blind and her opponent flipped over pocket jacks.

The board came {5-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Winter was eliminated from the tournament.

Slim Saved by the River

Amarillo Slim took a stab at the pot holding {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, on a board of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. His opponent raised enough to put Slim all in. Slim reluctantly made the call and his opponent showed {A-Hearts}{10-Spades} for top pair, top kicker.

The turn brought the {J-Spades}, giving Slim four additional outs for a straight and he struck gold on the river when the {7-Hearts} fell off the deck.

After the hand, Slim's chip count increased to 24,000.

Players Returning from Break

Our "15 minute" break took a little bit longer than usual, as the tournament staff gave the dealers a quick break from guarding the tables and chips while the players were on break. They also colored up the green $25 chips before officially sending the players on break.

Most of the players have retaken their seats and play should be underway shortly.
