The start of Event #42, Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo will be delayed just a few minutes. The large turnout at the $1,000 NLHE Seniors Event necessitated the use of the Poker Pavilion for overflow tables and the floor staff is in the process of moving those remaining players to tables inside the Amazon Room. When that's done, the whole tent will be free to house the PLO8 players.
It looks like a pretty large and star-studded field for the WSOP's inaugural PLO8 event. On our first pass through the packed tent we spotted Brett "Gank" Jungblutt, John "Sir Scoopalot" Duth, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, Kathy Liebert, Minh Ly, Thomas Wahlroos, Michael Binger, Layne Flack, Lee Watkinson, Eric "Rizen" Lynch, Jon Friedberg, Joe Hachem, Brandon Cantu, Rafe Furst, Amy Calistri, and David Benyamine.
Minh Ly was one of the afternoon's first casualties. He moved all-in on the turn with top two pair and was called by a player who had made a small flush.
Mike Sexton, John Racener, Aaron Kanter, George Danzer, Humberto Brenes, Julian Gardner, James Van Alstyne, Jean Gaspard, Kirk Morrison, Eric Froehlich, Brian Devonshire, David Aydt, Scott Clements, Jon "PearlJammer" Turner, Perry Friedman, Jeff Madsen, Chad Brown, Rolf Slotboom, Marcel Luske and Davood Mehrmand are all playing today.
On a flop of , the big blind checked, Joe Hachem bet 125 from the cutoff, the button called and the big blind called. The turn was the . The big blind checked, Hachem bet 425, the button called and the big blind called. The river was the . The big blind checked, Hachem bet 1700, the button folded and the big blind called.
Hachem showed -- he caught the six on the river to give him the straight and the nut low and he scooped the pot. He was up to 11,000 after the hand.
The players at Table 156 have played perhaps 25% of the hands the rest of the field has. One of the plastic air conditioning tubes seems to be aimed straight at their felt, causing players' cards to flip over on nearly every deal.
They've been assured by the TDs that the problem is being taken care of.
On a flop of , the button bet 200, John "sirscoopalot" Guth raised to 1,125, the button moved all in and Guth called. Guth showed for top set while the button tabled for an overpair, a gutshot, and the nut flush draw. The turn was the making the button's flush and the river was the , failing to pair the board for Guth.
