Tom Chambers, Travis Pearson, Brett "gank" Jungblut, Charles Boncich, Eric Ambrosen, Kenneth Drusin, Gebrehiwet Goitom, and James Newberry have all been eliminated.
On a 10-8-6 flop, Jeff Madsen flopped a set of tens, but his opponent hit running hearts to make a king-high flush and a low. Madsen stormed away from the table after the hand to take a walk and cool down before returning to play.
Mark Wilds is up to 126,000 after a strong start to the day. The same is true of David Bach, who now sits on 111,000 in chips. Everyone's favorite scarf aficionado George Danzer has nearly doubled his stack to 60,000, and Philip Marmorsteen is up to 58,000. Marmorsteen isn't too hard to spot in this field, as he is decked out in full-on traditional leiderhosen and a feathered hat.
We are only three spots away from the money. One table is playing seven-handed, even though the others are eight or nine-handed, and to protest the floor's insistence that they remain that way instead of having another player moved in, one player has started deliberately stalling on every hand. The clock has been called on him three separate times (once by George Danzer) and he's been warned that if it happens again, he'll incur a penalty.
The final three players eliminated before the bubble burst were Marcel Luske, PLO bracelet winner Alan Smurfit, and Chris Moore. Smurfit and Moore were eliminated on the same hand when their opponent rivered a wheel to scoop the pot. Luske went out when he pushed all in with Q-Q-2-7 and was called by an opponent with A-A-3-7. The aces held for high and the A-3 played for low, and Luske was eliminated.
