New Decks

Players in today's Omaha 8/Stud 8 event will be thrilled to know that they will be using standard-issue decks in today's event, NOT the much-maligned "PokerPeek" decks.

Level: 1

Blinds: 25/50

Ante: 100

Cards are in the Air

Event # 5 is now underway. The game will change between Omaha 8 and Stud 8 every 30 minutes, with the blinds and antes increasing every hour.

Level 1 starts with Stud 8. The low card bring-in is 25, the completion is 50, and the betting limits are 50-100 with a single 100 ante on the button.

Notable Players in the Field

Today's field is pro-heavy including Doyle Brunson, J.J. Liu, Perry Friedman, Sabyl Cohen, Allen Kessler, Josh Arieh, Chau Giang, Bill Chen, Mike Sexton, John Juanda, David Benyamine, Jennifer Harman, Annie Duke, Dutch Boyd, Mel Judah, Ted Forrest, James Van Alstyne, Barry Greenstein, David Chiu, Brett "Gank" Jungblutt, Huck Seed, Kristy Gazes, Scotty Nguyen, Max Pescatori, Layne Flack, and Men "The Master" Nguyen.

Benyamine's Mad Dash

David Benyamine broke into a run trying to get to his table before the first hand was dealt. As he arrived he knocked over his own chair as he tried to sit down. The dealer got ready to muck his hand when Benyamine said, "It's not my fault! The chair fell over!"

Who's Got the Button?

There has already been some confusion over the presence of the dealer button at the table. In stud games, a button is neither used nor moved from player to player. Instead, the player with the lowest up-card must pay a forced "bring-in" bet, which starts the action.

"Don't move the button!" Men the Master exclaimed to his dealer. "Have you ever dealt stud before?"
