TD Jack Effel Thanks the Staff

Tournament Director Jack Effel takes a moment to recognize the hard work of the WSOP staff, including all of the assistant tournament directors and everyone else who has helped keep the WSOP running through all 55 events, with a record number of entrants this year (not in this one event, obviously, but throughout the past seven weeks).

There have been a few problems along the way that have been well reported (crazy cards, similar chip colors, bad conditions in the poker tent), but for the most part this World Series has been run very smoothly.

The turn card is the {10-Spades}, and both players check. The river card pairs the board with the {Q-Hearts}, Lam bets 1.25 million, and Kravchenko folds. Tuan Lam takes the pot.

Tuan Lam took over second place in chips on Hand #136. He was in last place just seven hands earlier. Raymond Rahme is trying to chip away at his deficit. As of Hand #139, he moved out of the basement and leapfrogged over Alex Kravchenko into third place. He won five hands over the last ten. Jerry Yang picked up two more pots to bring his overall total to 53. He is still the chipleader.
