The Ultimate Roller-Coaster

OK, get a load of this hand. Think your hands only get sucked out/re-sucked on the internet? Well it happens in the Main Event too.

Michael Lindermeyer moved all in on a flop of {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} holding J-J and his opponent called with A-K. When the {10-Diamonds} hit on the turn, his opponent jumped out of his chair as he made a straight. However, the {8-Spades} fell on the river, pairing the board and giving Lindermeyer the winning full house.

Lindermeyer is up to 33,000 and is still catching his breath after that roller-coaster ride of emotions.

Dan Shak Eliminated

Dan Shak was eliminated, and the players at his table recounted the action.

Apparently, the hand that crippled him was pocket fives. After a flop of J-9-7, his opponent moved all in, and Shak called with 5-5, putting his opponent on A-K. Well, he was half right, as his opponent had A-A. Shak never improved, and he took a big hit there.

Short-stacked, he made his stand with K-J, and another player called him with A-8. Shak never improved, and he was eliminated.

Dan Shak's wife Beth reached a final table this year, finishing second. Dan was one of the co-winners of the charity tournament for Darfur, and he donated 100% of his winnings to the charity.

James Van Alstyne Busts A Player

Van Alstyne raised to 1,100 from late position and the player in the big blind moved in for his last 2,600 with pocket Deuces. But Van Alstyne had the goods this time, pocket Kings, and despite a little moment of anxiety when the other player picked up a gutshot draw on the turn, Van Alstyne's hand held up and his stack is now up to 39K.

McEvoy Sets It Up

Flop: {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

McEvoy's opponent led out for 2,000 and McEvoy raised to 8,000. His opponent moved all-in and had McEvoy covered. McEvoy made the call and turned over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} while his opponent showed {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. McEvoy's top set held up and he's now up to 40,000.
