Ruth Benmelech -- A Different Sort of Bracelet Winner

The Bracelet
The Bracelet
Ruth Benmelech is sporting a diamond bracelet in this tournament. It's not from a WSOP event -- she won the VIP Poker Tournament at the Crystal Palace Casino in Florida, back on May 18. The win got her $5,000 in cash, the diamond bracelet, some slot play, and the big prize -- a buy-in to the WSOP Main Event. She's at 61,000 in chips right now.

Superhero

Superheroes can stop bullets right? Well "Johnny World" Hennigan has proved that he has more than just a superhero name when he cracked his opponent's aces just prior to the break. All in preflop, Hennigan held {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} while his opponent held {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}.

The {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop was no help, nor was the turn {J-Hearts}.

However, in the nick of time, on the river, the superhero caught the {Q-Clubs} to eliminate his opponent.

de Wolfe Makes a Big Laydown Before the Break

On a board showing {5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Spades}, with approximately 20,000 already in the pot, Roland de Wolfe's opponent in the small blind made it 5,000 to go; de Wolfe called instantly. Going into the river, de Wolfe had about 35,000 behind, while his opponent sat with just 6,300.

The last card off the deck was the {J-Diamonds} and the small blind immediately moved all in for his last 6,300.

At this point, Roland paused and asked his opponent, "What do you think I have?" His opponent stayed quiet and shortly after, Roland folded pocket fives face-up on the table, revealing that he'd made top set on the flop.

After the hand was over, Roland politely interrogated his opponent for any information he could get as to whether or not he'd made the correct laydown, but his opponent wouldn't budge.

"The whole hand didn't really seem right," Roland told me after the hand. "6,000 was a lot of my stack and I was looking for a better spot."

Note: Roland busted the same opponent not even a half an hour after this hand took place, getting the better end of a coinflip situation.

The Montel Williams Show

Montel Williams opened the pot with a raise to 2,000, an opponent moved all in for 33,725 and Williams called. Williams turned up A-K while his opponent tabled J-J. The flop was {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} pairing Williams's ace. The turn was the {6-Diamonds}, the river was the {4-Clubs}, and Williams dragged another huge pot, eliminating his opponent in the process.

Williams was up to 150,000 after the hand.

Double Double

Patrik Antonius and Shane Beckham have both managed to double up in the first few hands after the break. Patrik was in trouble and pushed all in preflop for his last 9,400 with {10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. He was called by an opponent holding {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Patrik is back up to 26,000.

Shane has been on a rush, doubling up with a full house after he flopped a set of sixes and winning another nice pot with quad queens, he is now up to 47,000.
