Stephen Jacobs Drops Some Chips

With the board reading {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, Jacobs threw out a 15,000 bet. "Do you really have pocket Jacks...or pocket Sixes..." his opponent mused, before raising an additional 15K. Jacobs called and his opponent turned over pocket Tens for the boat. Jacobs tossed his cards in the muck but said he had an Ace-high flush, and that loss took his stack down to 143,000.

Five (5) Rounds of Play Today

Tournament staff have just announced that players will be playing a total of five rounds of play today. For Day 1, players played six rounds, lasting until roughly 4am PDT. Today should be much shorter, ending closer to 2am.

We've asked Harrah's floor staff what happens if the field narrows down to roughly 300-400 players and were told that it's unlikely to drop that far today. There have been a high amount of eliminations thus far, and we've yet to hit the first break. We will continue to watch eliminations closely and it will be interesting to see just how many players survive Day 2a.

The Curse Of Table 51, Seat 9

The first player who occupied that seat busted out early today, and then a new player was moved there. A few hands later he pushed in the last of his chips with Q-9. And ran into Aces. He caught a nine on the turn but didn't get any additional help and was busted.

"Could you move someone there with about 40,000?" Raymond Davis asked the floor. Davis and the player in the 8 seat have been bantering back and forth and Davis suggested his tablemate might be more comfortable moving one seat to his right. Into the Dead Zone of Seat 9.

Eric Clarke Eliminated

Eric Clarke, member of Team Pokernews, has just been eliminated. Clarke was on the button and saw a flop of {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} while holding {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. All the money went in on the flop against a single opponent, who turned over pocket jacks.

Clarke was drawing to a gutshot straight as well as a queen high flush. He made his flush on the turn, and thought he just had to dodge the board pairing. The river was the fourth jack, giving his opponent quads, and Clarke was eliminated.

The turn with the {K-Diamonds}, making top set for Mizrachi, and the river was the {3-Diamonds}.

Dave Wells Won't Get Off the Pot

The button bet 6,000, Dave Wells raised to 12,000, the button pushed all-in for 5,500 more and asked, "Is that enough to get you off the pot?" Wells smiled and then called. Wells had A-K against A-Q. The board came {6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, the button doubled up to 47,800, and Wells was down to 52,500.

Laura Fink Hits a Miracle Set

A late-position player opened the pot for 3,400, Laura Fink moved all in for 17,500 from the small blind, the big blind moved all in for 40,000 total, and the LP player folded. Fink turned over {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} while her opponent tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. The flop was {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, pairing the big blind's ace. The turn was the {10-Clubs}, bringing no help for Fink, but the river was the miracle {J-Hearts}, making her jacks full to take down the pot.

Fink was up to 40,000 after the hand.
