Garrett Goes Home With a Story

Brad Garrett
Brad Garrett
Brad Garrett was all-in and heads up against Anthony Newman. Newman showed pocket aces while Garrett showed pocket kings.

Flop: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Garrett was left looking for runners, but failed to improve and was eliminated. We're sure he'll have quite the story to tell, pocket kings versus pocket aces, and look forward to seeing him again next year.

Seed Planted Firmly On Flop

World Champion Huck Seed
World Champion Huck Seed
A player in the cutoff position made it 3,000 to go and the small blind moved all-in for 22,000 more. Huck Seed was left in the big blind, and made the call, while the original bettor folded. The small blind turned over K-Q while Huck turned over pocket jacks.

Flop: Q-J-8

Huck flopped a set and his opponent failed to improve. After the hand, Huck is up to 81,000.

Patrik Antonius Eliminated

Patrik Antonius, the Feared Black Lotus of Poker
Patrik Antonius, the Feared Black Lotus of Poker
Patrik Antonius makes it 8,400 preflop, and Danny Felix calls from an earlier position. The flop comes {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}, and Felix moves all in, covering Antonius, who thinks for a while before he calls all in for 33,000 with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for top pair. Felix shows {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of queens with a higher kicker. Antonius needs a ten or something runner-runner to stay alive.

The turn card is the {4-Hearts}, the river card is the {J-Diamonds}, and Patrik Antonius, the feared Black Lotus of Poker, has been eliminated from the Main Event.

Antonius only had one in-the-money finish at this year's WSOP, but it was a big one; he finished third in $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, earning $311,394.

The $360,000 Man

It appears that Steve Austin is our current chip leader with a 360,000 stack. Apologies for the title of this post, it's hard to resist such an easy joke. Though I wonder if the 21-year-olds out there would even get it. That's a depressing thought.

Chris Overguard Likes Pocket Aces

A player from early position raised to 3,100. Chris Overguard re-raised to 8,100. A player behind him said, "Wow." He went into the tank before he moved all in for 114,000. The first player quickly folded. Overguard called with A-A. His opponent flipped over Q-Q. The board ran out J-4-2-7-7. Overguard's Aces held up and he increased his stack to 230K.

Mark Kroon Can Finally Get Comfortable

Mark 'PokerHo' Kroon just had his table break for the *sixth* time today, in just 2 hours and 25 minutes of play. Kroon has averaged a new table every 24 minutes or so, making it very tough to get a read on the other players.

This time, he is moving to the opposite side of the room, and he should be able to get comfortable at Table 55, Seat 7 -- that table is very late in the breaking order.
