Lee Watkinson Plays the Big Stack

Lee Watkinson opened the pot for 40,000 from early position and Kenny Tran re-raised to 150,000 from the button. Watkinson calmly pushed out several towers of orange 5,000 chips, making a third raise to 500,000. Tran went into the tank for several minutes before making the fold.

After the hand Tran slipped to 436,000 while Watkinson was up to 1,815,000.

Maria Ho Doubles Through Jason Welch

Jason Welch opened the pot for 36,000, Maria Ho re-raised, and Welch moved all in... BUT... Welch flipped over his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} before Ho even had a chance to act. Ho went into the tank for a few minutes before deciding to call for her tournament life with {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The flop was {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, pairing Ho's ace. The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, the river was the {6-Clubs} and she doubled up to 175,000.

A professional player from the Los Angeles area, Maria Ho is one of only two women remaining in the field. Kelly Jo McGlothlin is the other.

The Daily Phil Hellmuth Appearance

Phil Hellmuth has just walked around the final 19 tables, wishing good luck to his friends and others who are still alive in the Main Event. Don't be surprised if he reappears tomorrow for the same reason.

He stopped by Chad Brown's table to say hello, and Thor Hansen jokingly asked, "Hey, Phil. How much do you have?" Phil responded, "How much do I have where?" Like most players in the Main Event, Hellmuth busted on Day One.

Hellmuth stopped by most of the tables, talking to Billy Baxter, Berry Johnston, and Huckleberry Seed among others.
