Nicolas Atlan Eliminates Thor Hansen

Thor Hansen
Thor Hansen
Atlan made it 45,000 to go before the flop from middle position and Hansen moved all in for his last 245,000. Atlan made the call and had Thor drawing slim when he revealed pocket aces; Hansen showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The situation got worse for Hansen on the flop, as the case ace gave Nicolas top set. Hansen's only hope for survival was the possibility of a runner-runner straight, which failed to materialize as the turn and river brought the {8-Clubs} and {5-Diamonds}.

Atlan's chip count after the hand stood right around 1,400,000.

Channing: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and just like that, Channing was eliminated. Jeff Bryan is up to 1,450,000 chips after the hand.

Hansen Spikes a Miracle Ten to Stay Alive

Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen
Tournament chip leader Tuan Lam just took a major hit, courtesy of a bad beat put on him by Gus Hansen.

Tuan made it 50,000 before the flop from the cutoff and Gus reraised, making it 148,000 to go from the big blind. Lam then moved all in, which put Gus to a decision for the rest of his chips and he made the call, revealing pocket tens; Tuan had him in bad shape with pocket queens.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Gus covered his mouth with both hands in disbelief. The turn and river blanked out, doubling Gus up to 1,406,000 in chips.

"I have to admit . . . that's sick," Gus said after raking in the pot. Tuan was left with a respectable 1,880,000 after the hand.
