Featured Table: Scotty Nguyen Wins With a Straight

There was one hand dealt after Armbrust's elimination, but the announcer was busy. We don't know any of the action, but there was no flop.

There is a dead button in seat 2, Tuan Lam raises (effectively from the button) to 325,000, and Scotty Nguyen calls from the big blind. The flop comes {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Nguyen checks, Lam bets 400,000, and Nguyen calls. The turn card pairs the board with the {Q-Clubs}, and both players check. The river card is the {J-Spades}, and both players check. Nguyen shows {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a king-high straight, and Lam mucks. Scotty Nguyen wins the pot.

Outer Table: Alex Kravchenko Doubles Up

Alex Kravchenko
Alex Kravchenko
Kravchenko moved all-in for 1.1 million from early position and Kevin Farry made the call. It was folded around and Kravchenko's {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} was racing against Farry's {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Farry stayed in the lead after the {5-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop but Alex caught the {K-Diamonds} on the turn, and when the {6-Clubs} hit on the river Kravchenko doubled up to 2.33 million, while Farry's stack fell to 1.6 million.

Lee Watkinson & Destiny

Lee Watkinson
Lee Watkinson
Lee Watkinson is on a mission. He just took A-K against pocket nines and sprung from his chair as he caught a king on the river to win a key pot and become the new chip leader at 14,000,000 before the dinner break.

Lee's fiance Timmi DeRosa is his loudest supporter as she shouted for joy at Lee's good fortune. Lee and Timmi met through an organization that rescues chimpanzees that have been neglected. They hope that the money Lee might win at the WSOP will go to this wonderful cause.

Lee is quite a guy and has several different business interests outside of poker that he hopes to roll into the Courtland Brandon Foundation to save and protect animals. One is a clothing and jewelry line (he has a multitude of prison inmates involved in creating the artwork and designs, which is constructive and positive on its own). Another is a record distribution company. Lee just signed his first band, Pico vs. the Island Trees. The band's producer is Grammy Award-winner David Kershenbaum, who signed Janet Jackson and numerous other stars, selling over 100 million records over the course of his career.

If there are any animal lovers out there who are interested in saving chimpanzees, donations can be sent to:

The Courtland Brandon Foundation
2934 Beverly Glen Circle #763
Los Angeles, CA 90077

One last bit of information -- both Full Tilt Poker and Watkinson's friend and fellow poker pro Ted Lawson and his wife Michelle have been extremely generous to this cause so dear to Lee and Timmi's hearts.

Lee qualified for the Main Event on Full Tilt Poker and stands to rake in a $10 million bonus should he win it all. What a story that would be!

Is destiny lurking near? Good luck, Lee.
