When the hand began, Daniel Negreanu had chipped up to around 60,000, and Phil Hellmuth had about 30,000.
Phil Hellmuth limped from middle position, Sirous Jamshidi called from the cutoff, Daniel Negreanu called from the button, Daniel Alaei folded from the small blind, and Alex Kravchenko checked his option in the big blind.
The flop came , and all four checked. The turn was the . Kravchenko bet 2,000, Hellmuth raised to 6,000, and Jamshidi called. Then Negreanu re-potted to 21,000. Kravchenko folded, Hellmuth reraised all in, Jamshidi folded and Negreanu made the call.
Hellmuth:
Negreanu:
Hellmuth was in good shape with his set of kings against Negreanu's set of deuces. The river was the , and Hellmuth is now up to 62,000. Negreanu has slipped to 30,000.
After a checked flop of , David "Devilfish" Ulliott, bet 7,000 when the hit the turn. Jeff Williams quickly reraised all in, and this sent Ulliott into the tank.
"Did you check the flush draw?" Ulliott asked.
Finally, "Devilfish" called, but angrily tossed his hand into muck when he saw Williams show for not only the flopped straight, but the turned flush.
The meaningless river card led to an Ulliott rebuy, while Jeff Williams now has a stack of 45,000
Shortly after that hand with Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu ended up in another big hand with Robert Williamson III.
Six players limped to see a flop of . Negreanu bet 6,000 from the big blind, and only Williamson called behind him. Before the turn card came, Negreanu announced he was all in. Williamson called in the dark.
Negreanu:
Williamson:
Coupla guys drawing here. The gave both straights, but Williamson's was better. The river didn't change things. Williamson was up to 69,000, and Negreanu was rebuying.
On the very next hand, Negreanu's straight draw didn't come, and Daniel Alaei made quads. "Rebuy!"
Negreanu was stacked again the next hand, and rebought again.
Eric Froehlich, Men Nguyen, and Scotty Nguyen all limped, Josh Arieh raised from the small blind, and the others all called.
The flop came 10-9-3. Arieh bet 4,000, Froehlich raised all in for 10,000, the others folded, and Arieh called. Arieh showed Q-J-9-8, and Froehlich K-Q-10-8.
The turn was the and the river the . That river gave Arieh a straight, and Froehlich chose not to rebuy.
Players are allowed to rebuy through the end of Level 3. One can rebuy whenever one's stack is at or below 10,000. Thus, when a player busts, that player can at that time rebuy for 10,000 (for $5,000) or double rebuy to 20,000 (for $10,000).
Just before the break, Daniel Negreanu had just made another double rebuy to 20,000, and more than doubled up on the last hand of Level 2. So he sits with about 45,000 at the moment.
