A Whale of a Time

Scott Clements
Scott Clements
Scott Clements made it 150 from the cutoff, only for Dan Alspach, resplendent in bright blue whale-themed shirt and visor, to make it 450 from the button.

Clements checked the {10-Spades} {6-Spades} {9-Clubs} flop, and then folded to Alspach's 650 bet.

Clements is now down to 2200; Alspach is up to 3650.

O'Donnell Struggling with the Ladies

Kevin O'Donnell doesn't seem to be a ladies' man, as they just slapped him firmly in the face and knocked him down to what is admittedly still a hugely healthy 9,000 stack.

After his preflop raise to 250 was called by the cutoff, Kevin's subsequent 475 and 1,125 bets on the flop and turn of a {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board were duly called, before both players checked down the {K-Clubs} river. "Nice hand," confessed a sporting Kevin as he was holding pocket queens.

Amir All Over the Place

Amir Vahedi has doubled up to 5,300, finding himself all in with {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} and in excellent shape against his opponent's {J-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} on a {10-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs} flop. He rivered the full house with another Ten, for good measure.

-----

UPDATE - in the time it took me to write that, Mr Vahedi has managed to slip back down to just 1,000 in circumstances unknown. Oops.

Ants in Their Pants

Somebody remove these ants!
Somebody remove these ants!
Remember that Doug Lee chap... and that kangaroo on the trampoline? Well he's at it again, his stack continuing to fluctuate, this time however in the wrong direction. Calling a raise of 225 from the small blind, both players checked the {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board before Doug's 600 bet on the {9-Hearts} river was raised to 1,200. Doug swiftly mucked with more than a slight grimace.

Also catching the Doug Lee bug is last night's runner upper Andy Bloch, his stack dipping down to a frightfully low 500, before jumping back up to 3,500 with a flopped set against, yes, you guessed it, Doug Lee's {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

What's happened here, do these chaps have ants in their pants or something?

Best McEvoyd This One...

Tom McEvoy must be among our early chip leaders. After propelling his stack to 6,000 after turning the straight with {10-Clubs} {J-Clubs} on a {2-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {4-Diamonds} board, he has now leapt up to the intoxicating heights of 8,000 after eliminating young Frenchman and EPT champion Ludovic Lacay.

McEvoy made it 500 on the {5-Hearts} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds} flop and Lacay called in early-ish position. McEvoy bet another 500 on the {5-Diamonds} turn, and again, Lacay called. The river was the innocuous {4-Hearts} and McEvoy put Lacay all in with a 1200 bet. On their backs and Lacay's {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} was no match for the mighty house-alicious {5-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} of McEvoy.

Gobbo-OUT

Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke is OUT - a preflop raising war between Jimmy on the button and an unknown opponent on the cutoff saw them coinflipping, Jimmy holding A-Q and his opponent holding pocket tens which held up.

Ace Saves Sebok

Ship it to the Bok!
Ship it to the Bok!
"It's a skill game," as Dutchman Rolf Slotboom always informs me with a slight hint of sarcasm when he witnesses a bad beat, but as we all know, you can't triumph in these events without stumbling upon the odd slice of luck, and that's exactly what Joe Sebok encountered just moments ago.

Short-stacked and all in with A-Q, Joe found himself in the sometimes merciful hands of the poker gods as his opponents revealed queens and kings. But an ace on the turn proved his saviour, leaving Joe with a much more playable, but still below his starting stack, 2,350.

Lipkin Has Many Chip-kin

Also gone is John Juanda. Robert Lipkin made it 150 in early position, and Juanda called from the button. Juanda check-raised the Q-10-4 flop, and then shoved the nine turn for 1,500; Lipkin called, and Juanda's K-Q was no good against Lipkin's Q-Q.

Lipkin up to a whopping 10,800.
