Ambrose-ia

Steve Paul-Ambrose is up to 8,300 after finding himself in the enviable position of holding {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} on a {2-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} board. His opponent just mucked.

-----

Meanwhile Tom Schneider is up to 6,100 after putting two short-stacked players all in with the mighty {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} and rivering a backdoor flush.

Incidentally, Schneider and Ambrose are sharing a table along with Greg Raymer. Another interesting table share has Scott Clements, Dan Alspach and David Sklansky in close proximity.

Ay Caramba!

The more yellow-skinned, never-aging of the Barts is renowned for his mischievous antics, and it would appear as though his namesake at the table is no different. Betting 1,600 on a {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board, and consequently leaving himself just 500 behind, Bart Hanson is called in one spot before indeed pushing for that remaining 500 on the {4-Diamonds} river. Tapping the table in defeat, his opponent mucks his hand allowing Bart to reveal his {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for the busted straight draw. "I guess pot limit saved me there," adds a cheeky Bart. Boy, is he going to be in trouble when Homer gets hold of him.

Come on the Puns!

Some of you eagle-eyed viewers out there may have noticed that Jennifer Tilly and Andy Bloch are both playing in this tournament. What you might not be aware of however is my unrelenting eagerness to witness these players cross swords, preferably with Jennifer taking a pot off Andy, if only so I can use the puntastic 'Jenny From The Bloch' title.

As you can see, I don't have much of a life, but I am making efforts to improve it.

Disaster!

Just as I am posting my last message of hope, my dreams are suddenly shattered by news that Andy Bloch has been eliminated from this event. The dream might be over for today, but I am determined to strike with my god-awful pun when these two meet later in the Series.

Out... Out... Out...

Roy Winston is OUT, all in with 6-7 against an unknown lady's J-Q on a Q-7-3 flop.

Also OUT, Mr John Duthie, making a badly timed move with absolutely nothing against the unknown cutoff holding nines and Bart Tichelman holding queens. The cutoff also busted.

Again, OUT, Mr Tony Dunst - all in with aces on a king-high, two-club board, his opponent was holding {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} and rivered the flush.

Similarly OUT, Mr Mark Seif, all in preflop with a promising-looking pair of kings against Richard Hendin's Q-J, but a straight on the river for the lucky, Seif-cracking Hendin and he's gone.

Furthermore (last one this post), Mr Alex Jacob is also OUT, all in on a 9-3-4 flop with aces - unlucky for him, as Richard Fohrenbach was holding pocket fours for a set.

513 players left, of a total impressive but not record-breaking 713.

Emad is Mad

Bah!
Bah!
Emad Tahtouh is a gonna. He found himself all in with A-8 against K-8, but a cruel testicle-crunching king on the river soon put an end to his venture. He took hit like a true gent though, tapping the table as he left.

Down and Up

Tom Schneider is back down to 4,100 after losing a 4,000 pot when his opponent outdrew his set of kings with {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} which made a flush.

-----

Meanwhile things are going well for Burt Boutin, who had a lucky double-up with {A-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} against his opponent's {A-Spades} {K-Spades} - the board a divine {3-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {5-Spades} {7-Spades} .

Blair Rich Project

Yes, yes, I'm more than satisfied with that pun. Moving on to the actual hand, after raising a preflop limper to 1,700, Blair then pushed for 1,800 with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} on the {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop before being called by {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and surviving a blank {10-Hearts} turn and {5-Hearts} river.

"I hated that flop," commented a relieved Rodman, the former bracelet winner now up to a tasty 5,800.

Girl Power!

Jennifer Tilly has clearly learned a lot from partner and fellow poker player Phil Laak, her preflop raise with 5-3 offsuit hitting a delightful 3-3-T flop, and being duly paid off by her opponent's A-T, Tilly smooth calling a 400 bet on the flop before re-raising him all in on the 'these-chips-are-destined-to-go-in' ace turn.

Bad luck for one man, but not since the Spice Girls were slamming your body down and winding it all around have we seen this level of girl power as Tilly shoots up to 11,500.
