David Woo arrived at this final table in the middle of the pack, but quickly claimed a substanial chip lead after eliminating Curtis Early and Thom Werthmann in a double-KO when he flopped the nut straight.
Nicknamed "The Magnificent" by his friends, 30-year old Woo is a poker professional from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He made the final table of this tournament last year and he not only bested his fifth-place finish in that event today, but quadrupled his career tournament earnings and won his first WSOP bracelet.
When asked about his approach to this final table, Woo said: "My strategy going in was, 'Don't make it a shove-fest.' Play small pots and go from there. When there's play involved, poker is a beautiful thing."
After his fifth-place finish last year, Woo admitted to being so disappointed at not winning the bracelet that he took his $118,000 in winnings and, "Dusted it all off at the blackjack table in half an hour." This time, he's adamant about bringing the whole check home to Georgia.
Congratulations to our newest bracelet winner, David Woo!
