From the cutoff Dario Minieri raised to 3,000 and Mike Fiorito called in the big blind. The flop came and Fiorito came out firing for 1,500. Minieri called, and he also called Fiorito's bets after the turned and the fell on the river. Fiorito showed down for trips and took down the pot.
Phil Hellmuth was just eliminated in a three-way pot with Rafi Amit and Bruno Fitoussi. Hellmuth was all in on fifth street and when the action was complete the players showed:
Amit mucked and Hellmuth showed his losing two pair as he stood up. Fitoussi stacked the pot and Hellmuth headed for the exit.
Just a few hands prior to his elimination, Hellmuth was overheard saying, "Well I didn't think it was possible to go out of this (tournament) on Day One...I like to do things that are tough to do."
Jan Von Halle opened for a raise from middle position, Roy Thung three-bet, Von Halle four-bet and Thung called. The flop came down . Von Halle led out, Thung raised, and Von Halle elected to open-fold his .
Daniel Negreanu and Tom Dwan just squared off in a hand of razz that saw considerable action. There was at least one bet on every street and third and fifth streets had two bets each. When all was said and done, the players showed:

Dwan bet the river dark. Negreanu called and showed him the winner. Negreanu climbs to approximately 76,000 in chips on the hand while Dwan slips to about 65,000.
At long last the chips have been bagged and tallied. The WSOP has now released official chip counts for the opening day of Event 45, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship, with 140 of the original 48 entrants returning for Day 2 play.
