Super Short-handed

A couple of tables around the room are still looking quite sparse, as several players have yet to take their seats.

In fact, at one table, Dan Woolson spent the first five minutes playing solo until another player showed up to make it heads-up!

Tilly Makes a Good Call

Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly was in the big blind when she and the small blind saw a flop together with the pot at around 1,000. It came {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} {7-Clubs}. The small blind bet 600 and Tilly raised to 1,200. The small blind called.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and the small blind led for 600. Tilly made the call.

The river was the {2-Diamonds} and the small blind bet 1,400. Tilly went into the tank and stared at the board, trying to figure out what her opponent could hold. She then made the call and showed {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} for a set of eights.

Her opponent showed only ace high with {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and Tilly raked the pot. The good call put her up to 13,800.

Tahtouh Removal

Emad Tahtouh was the first player to enter the Brasilia Room earlier today, arriving early in order to get mentally ready for today's event. He would also be the first one out over there.

Tahtouh turned the wheel and was check-raised all in by a player with bottom set. The two players got all in and the river paired the board, giving Tahtouh's opponent a full house and the best hand.

More Big Names

Shane 'Shaniac' Schleger, Hevad 'Rain' Khan, Dan Harrington, Roy Winston, Alex Jacob, Anthony Chatelain, Jeff Madsen, Lee Watkinson, Shannon Shorr and Jerry Buss are just of few more of the big names we've spotted in the field thus far.

Slaubaugh Misses a Draw and is Out

On a flop of {J-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Diamonds}, Cody Slaubaugh bet 325. His opponent raised to 750 and then Slaubaugh reraised to 2,400. His opponent moved all in and Cody made the call.

Slaubaugh: {A-Spades} {8-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts}

The turn came the {10-Clubs} and the river the {A-Hearts}, but didn't give Slaubaugh what he was looking for and sent him home early.

James Keeps Cruising

The button raised to 150 and Kenna James made the call from the big blind. Both players checked on the flop of {K-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}.

The turn came the {9-Diamonds} and James checked. The button bet 350 and James called.

The river was the {4-Clubs} and James checked again. The button fired 850 and James made the call.

James showed {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} to best his opponent's {A-Spades} {2-Spades} and move to 15,500.

The Phil Laak Comedy Show

Phil Laak has really been amusing his table. The flop was {10-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs} and he showed {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} after his opponent bet. Laak then commented, "I haven't folded yet! Well, I fold now that he's seen it."

A few hands later, Laak struck up this conversation.

"In his book, Gus [Hansen] says how he folded deuce-seven. Nine hands later [Gus] says 'I folded deuce-seven nine hands ago and was getting 4.6-1,' and that he was unhappy." The whole table laughed.

Jordan Morgan = Busto

Jordan 'iMsoLucky0' Morgan was not so lucky in a recent hand that resulted in his elimination from the tournament.

The UTG+1 player raised to 300 before the flop and both the cutoff and Morgan (big blind) called.

The flop came {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and Morgan passed the first option to the original raiser, who led out with a 300 bet. The cutoff called, and when the action returned to Morgan, he check-raised to 1,050, leaving himself just 425 behind. The UTG+1 player folded and the cutoff called Morgan's check-raise.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Morgan open-shoved all in for his last 425. The cutoff player made the call:

Morgan: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}
Cutoff: {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts}

Ahead through the turn, Morgan needed to dodge an ace or an eight on the river to double up and stay alive, but dodge he couldn't, as the {A-Diamonds} popped off on the river, putting an early end to Morgan's day.
