Action Dan Chipping Up

Dan Harrington is off to a great start this afternoon, having already built his chip stack up to 24,000.

In a recent hand, Harrington called an opponent's (cutoff) preflop raise from the button. The small blind made the call as well and the three players saw a flop of {4-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {8-Diamonds}.

Action was then checked around to Harrington, who led out with a 900 bet. He was called by the small blind and the original raiser folded.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and 'Action Dan' became 'Acting Dan' as he tanked over the 2,200 bet that his opponent led out with, while sitting with the mortal nuts: {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. After resting his left hand on his temple and letting out a sigh, Harrington just called.

The {3-Diamonds} fell on 5th street and the small blind passed the action to Harrington who bet 5,000. His opponent made the call and Dan tabled the goods, prompting his opponent to ship his cards into the muck.

Miracle for Hachem

Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem
The flop was {8-Hearts} {6-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and the small blind bet 1,300 into Joe Hachem. Hachem raised all in for 5,600 and his opponent called. Hachem showed {J-Spades} {8-Diamonds} for top pair and thought it was good until his opponent turned over {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts} for a set.

Hachem said, "I always make the wrong decision!" as he stood from his chair and looked disgusted with what was to come.

Hachem was just about to make his exit when the dealer slapped the {J-Spades} on the turn and then the {8-Spades} on the river, giving Hachem runner-runner full house.

Another player mentioned, "I just knew that was going to happen," as Hachem sat back down and gathered himself, relieved and in disbelief.

Filippi Out

Amnon Filippi shipped all of his chips in preflop and was called by an opponent holding {A-?} {Q-?}. It would be a race situation as Filippi held {6-Clubs} {6-Clubs}.

The board ran out {10-?} {9-?} {9-?} {Q-?} {3-?} to pair Filippi's opponent and give him the win, busting Filippi.

Mahmood Retakes the Chip Lead

Ayaz Mahmood
Ayaz Mahmood
Ayaz Mahmood has just retaken the top spot on the leaderboard after outflopping an opponent's pocket kings with his own pocket fours.

Mahmood had limped into the hand from the cutoff and the action folded around to an unknown player in the small blind, who made it 1,500 to play. Mahmood made the call and saw a flop of {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades}, giving him bottom set.

His opponent then open-shoved his last 6,000 into the middle and Mahmood made a quick call. Blanks on both the turn and river cemented the hand for Mahmood, who now sits with a field-leading stack of ~44,000.
