Welcome to the Grind

Limit hold'em is a much slower-paced game than the no-limit variant. Players must be able to accumulate pots as opposed to accumulating entire stacks. As a result, this game becomes much more of a grind over the no-limit counterpart.

Trip Queens for Allen Le

A player under the gun raised and then Allen Le made it three bets from the button. The player called.

The flop came {Q-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Le's opponent checked-called a bet from Le. The turn then brought another lady, the {Q-Clubs}. The under-the-gun player checked, Le bet, the player raised, Le three-bet the action, and the player called.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Le's opponent check-called him again.

Le turned up {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} for trip queens with an ace kicker. The other player mucked after flashing the {Q-Hearts} to the table. Le's up to 3,450.

Here to Win

Gavin Smith was overhead telling his table, "I haven't cashed yet this year. I'm here to win this thing."

Currently Smith is still around his starting stack, but it's still very very early.

Liebert Jumps to Early Lead

Kathy Liebert just won two straight showdowns with {A-?} {K-?}. On the first hand, Liebert flopped top pair and bet the entire way. On the second hand, Liebert flopped trip aces and bet the entire way as well. She won both pots and has increased to 4,850, the chip leader at her table.

Seat Open!

Our section has just lost its first player. It is probably a safe bet that he is one of the first players, if not the very first, eliminated from today's event.

"Are you stupid?"

Tex Barch was just informed that he is in the wrong seat. Someone came to Barch's seat and claimed that it was theirs. The tournament staff came over and cleared things up, telling Barch he sat in the wrong seat. They then gave the other player Barch's old seat assignment. Daniel Negreanu is at Barch's table and asked him, "Tex, are you stupid?"

Which Game is this Again?

Preflop, David Levi bet and a late-position player raised. Levi made the call. On a flop of {7-Clubs} {10-Spades} {9-Spades} and the turn of the {3-Clubs}, David Levi bet and his opponent called. When the river of the {10-Hearts} hit, Levi checked and his opponent bet out. Levi called.

Levi showed {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} and his opponent showed {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} for a chop.

Evdakov Gets Back Up

From late position, Nikolay Evdakov raised. The cutoff reraised. The big blind called, as did Evdakov.

The flop came down {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}. The big blind checked, Evdakov bet, the cutoff raised. The big blind called, as did Evdakov.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and the big blind checked again. Evdakov led out again and the cutoff raised. The big blind called and then Evdakov reraised. The cutoff and big blind both called.

The river was the {9-Clubs}. The big blind checked, Evdakov bet, the cutoff called, and the big blind folded.

Evdakov showed {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} for a Broadway straight and scooped the pot. After being down early, he's back up to 2,375.
