Negreanu Worried About a Friend

Daniel Negreanu knelt on his chair and yelled out, "Where's Ivey?!?!" over to the adjacent tournament going on a few tables over. "Oh, there he is!" Daniel yelled after he saw that Ivey had just moved tables. Ivey is down to under 30 players in Event #13 and going for another bracelet.

"I was just worried about my friend," Negreanu yelled over to Ivey. Ivey just smirked and stared over at Daniel.

Negreanu then turned to some fans and said, "I was worried about my friend, I want him to do well. Actually, I want him to come in second. Not win, but second. I have bets on him and against him. I need him to do well, but not win."

What's the Como-tion?

Robert Como opened with a raise from the cutoff before Chris Tryba reraised on the button. Play folded to Daniel Negreanu, in the big blind, who put in yet another raise with both opponents making the call.

They saw a flop of {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Negreanu led out with a bet. Como raised and Tryba reraised. Negreanu called before Como popped it up once more with both opponents calling.

When the {Q-Hearts} fell on the turn, Negreanu gave up the fight, check-folding to the bet of Como as Tryba came along.

The river was the {6-Spades} and Como got one more bet out of his opponent before revealing pocket fives for a full house. He collects a huge pot to fly up to 220,000 chips.

David Olson Eliminated in 16th Place ($8,855)

David Olson - 16th Place
David Olson - 16th Place
David Olson had been surviving with the short stack for some time now, but decided to commit from the small blind against Daniel Negreanu in the big blind.

The last chips were in on the flop of {5-Clubs}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts} as Olson would need to improve with {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} as Negreanu was in front with {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and river the {3-Clubs} to end Olson's run in 16th place for $8,855.

Jimmy Tran raised and then Kyle Ray three-bet. Tran put in four bets when it got back to him and Ray called.

The flop came down {A-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} and Tran fired. Ray made the call. Tran then bet in the dark, leaving himself with 1,000 behind. The turn hit the {6-Spades} and Ray just called.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Tran tosses in his last chip. Ray made the call. Tran showed {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} to scoop the pot and double up.

Heavyweights Trade Blows

Daniel Negreanu and the recently moved Shawn Buchanan haven't taken long to trade blows. Buchanan won the first battle when he made a flush, but Negreanu got his revenge soon after, making his own flush with {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} to crack the {A-?}{4-?} of Buchanan on a board of {2-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Negreanu moves up to 360,000 chips.

Daniel Negreanu Putting on a Clinic

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu
Not only has Daniel Negreanu won the big pots where he has personally eliminated many of the players over the past two levels, but he's also picking up the small pots in between.

Remember that Negreanu picked up a bracelet in the Limit Holdem event last year, and now with in excess of 500,000 chips. He's going to be very hard to stop from here.

Wong Dented

Barry Shulman check-raised the flop of {2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} before firing a bet on the {J-Spades} turn against Fu Wong. The action really heated up when the {6-Diamonds} landed on the river. Shulman fired another barrel and Wong announced a raise. Shulman thought for a moment before reraising with Wong making the call.

Shulman tabled {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the straight to take it down, leaving Wong on the short stack.
