Day 2 Kicks Off Soon

Good afternoon, and welcome back to the Ladies World Championship event. We have 146 runners left and only 117 will be getting paid, so expect some very unladylike carnage from 2pm. Tamara Tibbles is our current chip mommy, with over double the stack of her nearest rival; we also have a veritable bunch of short stacks though. Could be a quick day...

Level: 11

Blinds: 500/1,000

Ante: 100

Getting Down to Business

Wow, there's been no messing around -- we've been losing players left, right and centre as the short stacks do or die in an effort to make the money.

Among those who will be leaving empty-handed are Bernadine Trujillo. Also an unfortunate exit for Patricia Cardner, whose {A-?} {K-?} came a cropper to Lucia Pierce's {A-?} {5-?} after the latter flopped the wheel. And a third player who will not be making the money today is Susan Tolson -- she shoved with {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} from the small blind, but was most unfortunate to run into big blind Julieta Bearden's {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}.

Jumbo Jett

Karina Jett has enjoyed a full double up to 24,000. She pushed all in on the button to a 3,000 raise from the lady on the cutoff, and a swift call later they were coinflipping it out.

Jett: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Ms Cutoff: {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

Board: {3-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} {7-Spades} {A-Diamonds}

24,000 for Jett.

Hot Three-Way Action

Collette Brown is up to over 50,000 after getting involved in a massive three-way pot and then enjoying a classic suckout. It looks as though Kathy Magaelli open-shoved in mid position, only for Brown to re-shove from the cutoff and then Cindy Gregory to call all in from the button.

Magaelli: {A-Spades} {9-Spades}
Brown: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}
Gregory: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

Board: a smack-tastic {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Magaeli and Gregory are both busto, and Brown is in excellent shape as we approach the bubble.

Ladies Come Good for One Lady As We Go Hand For Hand

One unfortunate who will not be making the money is Englishwoman and recent Women's World Open near-misser India Storrar.

---------

Still in but in a precarious spot is Katja Svendsen. As we go hand for hand with 118 runners remaining, Svendsen is down to just, er, 100 in chips. She got involved with Espy Enriquez the hand before, Svendsen holding {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and Enriquez holding an inferior {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, but a queen on the flop doubled up Enriquez and left Svendsen down to the very felt. "It's ok, I'm used to it," she sighed.

Board: {Q-Spades} {4-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}

Svendsen Not the Bubbler

Katja Svendsen, all in on her big blind, found herself holding the less-than-premium {8-Clubs} {5-Spades}, and a player in mid-position holding {J-Diamonds} {10-Spades} decided to give her a spin.

Board: {2-Hearts} {3-Spades} {K-Spades} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts}

Bink! Svendsen lives to fight, well, one more hand, at least -- she's up to a whopping 2,500, or two and a half big blinds. This represents an impressive comeback.
