Day 2 Right Around the Corner

Phillip "JB" Penn is "Just Ballin'" with over 50,000 chips coming into Day 2
Phillip "JB" Penn is "Just Ballin'" with over 50,000 chips coming into Day 2
The second day's action is set to begin in a short while at 2:00 PM local time, with some of the top ten including Markus Golser, Phillip "JB" Penn, Andre Akkari, David Singer, and Chris Amaral.

Over half of the field bowed out of the event yesterday, but there's still plenty of big names left in action. Nick Frangos, James Van Alstyne, Marcel Luske, Billy "The Croc" Argyros, Chau Giang, and Michael Binger all still remain to name a few. It's also interesting that Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu have been reassigned to the same table. Greenstein and Negreanu have a prop bet going to see who can accumulate the most points at the WSOP this year. Greenstein is teamed with Jeff Lisandro and Negreanu with Erick Lindgren. We'll have to wait until play starts to see if these two battle a little more than usual because of the bet.

We'll see you all back here at 2:00 PM local time for the start of the second day for Event #22, $3,000 H.O.R.S.E..

Negreanu Takes First Pot of the Day

Stud

The first pot of the day on a stacked table 246 has gone the way of Daniel Negreanu. He bet on all streets before checking on the river against Hernan Salazar.

Negreanu: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Salazar: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}

Negreanu showed down {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a pair of aces which was good to take it down. He's up to 32,000. This table also features Barry Greenstein and Bill Chen.

Watson Clips Chiu

Stud

Mike Watson has taken a nice early pot from David Chiu. We caught the action with the cards being dealt on sixth street with Chiu checking his pair over to Watson who bet. Chiu called, and then check-called on the river. The boards were as follows:

Watson: {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} ({2-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Hearts})
Chiu: {6-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts} (X-X-X)

Watson made three pair but only two count - still enough to beat Chiu as he sighed and mucked his cards. Watson is up to 34,000 with Chiu back to 10,000.

No Party for Bonomo In Marbleu's House

Stud

Justin Bonomo was just involved in the early goings against tablemate Philippe Marbleu. The boards looked as follows.

Bonomo: (X-X) {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} (X)
Marbleu: (X-X) {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {A-Spades} (X)

Bonomo bet fifth and was called by Marbleu. Marbleu took the lead on sixth with his ace showing and fired a bet. Bonomo made the call and then called on seventh as well after Marbleu bet.

Marbleu turned up a whopper of a hand, {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {A-Spades} ({A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs}), for a full house and Bonomo mucked. He is down to 15,000 chips.

Juanda Gets Running Start

John Juanda
John Juanda
John Juanda has been on a rush this morning after already knocking out two opponents during the round of Stud.

"He's won every hand but the first one!" Perry Friedman commented.

"I lost that one on purpose," came the dry reply from Juanda, "I wanted to get a running start!"

Clearly a fan of Stud after he's recent final table in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event, Juanda only gets eight hands before the game switches here today. He's moved up to 50,000 chips.

Chen Out

Bill Chen Eliminated
Bill Chen Eliminated
Stud-8

Bill Chen entered Day 2 with only 10,600 chips but couldn't find the double up he required and was recently eliminated in a hand of Stud-8.

Chen made two pair with queens and fours, but his opponent Morten Lassen scooped with trip deuces to send Chen to the exit.
