Gavatin Falls

Mats Gavatin
Mats Gavatin
Ping Chan raised it up to 2,100, and Mats Gavatin moved all in for a total of 11,700. When it came back to Chan, he made the call to put Gavatin at risk.

Showdown
Chan: {A-Spades} {J-Spades}
Gavatin: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

Gavatin was in brilliant shape for a double up, but the flop was a disastrous {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. The {6-Hearts} and {7-Clubs} that filled out the board could not save Gavatin, and he has been eliminated in the ugliest of ways.

Brent Hanks - Out
Brent Hanks got all of his chips into the pot on a turn board reading {J-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Clubs} {6-?}. Srinivasa Yarlagadda looked him up to put Hanks' tournament life in danger.

Showdown
Yarlagadda: {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Hanks: {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

Hanks had outs, but the {A-Spades} that hit the river was not one of them. He has been eliminated from Day 2.

Deniro Denied

In a hand we caught on the turn, Joseph Deniro got all in against Theo Tran on a board of {6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Deniro showed {J-Hearts}{6-Spades} for bottom pair and a straight draw while Tran held {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for the made straight. When Deniro couldn't catch up on the river, he was sent to the rail.

Matt Stout Goes Flat

Matt Stout
Matt Stout
Matt Stout got all his chips in preflop as a huge favorite against Tam Hang, but it didn't help.

Stout: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Hang: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

Stout held on all the way to the river when the board came {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, but Hang finally found his three-outer with the {A-Clubs} and Stout's day was done.

Frierson Poached

Gary Frierson - Out
Gary Frierson - Out
Gregory Thorson and Gary Frierson got it all in preflop, with Frierson the player at risk. He turned over {K-Clubs} {K-Spades}, poised for a double up against Thorson's {A-?} {K-?}.

It wasn't meant to be though, as the board ran {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {2-Spades} {8-Spades}. After picking up his pair of aces, Thorson has eliminated Gary Frierson from the field.
