Dan O'Brien is out. He was all in for 12,375 and called by Anton Allemann. Allemann drew one, prompting O'Brien to rap pat. It probably didn't matter; Allemann drew into 8-7-6-4-2 to send O'Brien out the door.
Jim Bechtel is also out. He opened for 2,300 ahead of an all-in reraise from small blind Shawn Sheikhan. Sheikhan had Bechtel well covered, so it was Bechtel who was all in for 10,475 upon calling. Sheikhan rapped pat; Bechtel drew one and couldn't beat Sheikhan's 9-7-6-3-2.
Erick Lindgen is also out. He was busted by one of the chip leaders, Vince Musso.
Carlos Mortensen and Sam Grizzle went pat, pat on the draw. With action on Mortensen first, he moved all in for his last 10,000 chips. Grizzle practically beat him into the pot, turning over 7-6-5-3-2. Mortensen nodded, flashed 9-7, then mucked his cards and left the room.
David Williams was down to 3,425 chips. He moved them all into the middle from the button and was called by Justin Smith from the small blind. Each player drew one card. Williams showed J-10-4-3 as his four held cards. Smith just turned all five over, revealing 9-6-5-3-2, a hand that left Williams drawing dead. He's now out.
Greg Mueller has doubled up four times in the last ten minutes. He was at it again, reraising to 13,000 after his opponent opened for 2,200. Mueller got the call and stood pat with T-8-7-6-2. His opponent drew one and paired.
Mike Wattel made it 1,700 to go from the cutoff, Shawn Sheikhan three-bet to 5,700 from the button, Wattel moved all in for 27,075 total and Sheikhan called. Both players stood pat.
"9-6" declared Sheikhan.
It was no match for Wattel's 8-7-6-5-2 and he doubled his stack to 55,000.
Phil Hellmuth showed up four hours late and was not able to accomplish much with his depleted stack. He was finally all in before the draw for his last few chips, called in three spots. Everyone drew one card except Amnon Filippi, who rapped pat. It was Dan Harmetz who led out after the draw. He was called by Filippi, but neither Filippi nor Hellmuth could beat Harmetz's 10-8-7-6-5. Harmetz collected both pots and knocked Hellmuth out in the process.
Sitting at a table with the likes of Layne Flack, Huck Seed and Roland De Wolfe doesn't seem to faze Bryan Colin one bit. In between hands, he's been devouring a copy of Mike Matusow's recently released autobiography "Check-Raising the Devil."
From the looks of it, he's up to the prison chapter.
Ville Wahlbeck tanked for a minute before re-raising the Big Papa, Doyle Brunson, all in to 19,075 after Brunson had raised Wahlbeck's initial raise from 2,000 to 6,000. Brunson called.
On the draw, Wahlbeck was pat. Brunson threw away one card and opened 7-6-3-2. Wahlbeck showed down 8-7-5-4-3, leaving Brunson looking for a 4 or a 5. He got neither, instead pairing sixes. The payoff pushed Wahlbeck up to almost 40,000 in chips.
David Grey opened for 2,000 from the cutoff, Doyle Brunson called on the button and Phil Ivey moved all in for 15,000 from the big blind. Grey got out of the way, but Brunson made the call. Doyle drew one while Ivey stood pat.
Ivey turned up T-9-7-4-2. Brunson paired his eight and Ivey took down the pot, doubling his stack to 36,000. Doyle is still well in this thing, with 49,000 in chips.
