Halle of a Run

Jon Van Halle
Jon Van Halle
After enjoying a big stack most of the earlier part of the day, Jon Van Halle has been eliminated. With the board showing {Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, Halle bet and Yan Peng Li thought for a while before making the call. The turn was the {A-Spades}, and Halle bet again. This time Li took significantly less time to call.

The river was the {10-Hearts}. Halle bet with his last chips, and when Li called he instantly said, "You've got me." Indeed he did, as Li turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for top pair-top kicker, while Halle tabled {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}.

Halle is out in 40th. Li is now up to 85,000.

Porter Pushes Ahead

With the board showing {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Rep Porter bet, Noah Boeken raised, and Porter called. The river brought the {5-Diamonds}. Porter checked, Boeken bet, Porter check-raised, and Boeken called.

Porter showed {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the flush, and Boeken mucked. Boeken has 120,000 now, while Porter has pushed all of the way up to 205,000 and into the chip lead.

River Allows Li to Catch Cowley

With the board {J-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}, Steve Cowley bet and Yan Peng Li called. The river was the {A-Clubs}, and Cowley bet with his remaining chips. Li called. "I got it on the river," he said, showing K-Q for Broadway. Cowley had flopped a set with pocket sevens, but they couldn't hold up.

Cowley is out in 38th place. After slipping before, Li is back up to 65,000 now.
