Walking After Midnight

Rep Porter

Seeing a lot of hands being folded around now, with end result being the player in the big blind winning the one-half of a small bet from the player in the SB.

One hand recently went to the river, so let's have a look at that one, whaddya say?

Rep Porter raised from the button, and Dominik Kulicki called from the small blind. The flop came {5-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, Kulicki bet, and Porter called. The turn was the {4-Hearts}. Kulicki bet, Porter raised, and Kulicki called.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}, and this time Kulicki check-called Porter's bet. Porter showed {A-Spades}{4-Clubs} for two pair, and Kulicki mucked.

Porter now has 175,000, while Kulicki has 100,000.

Dale Burner Eliminated in 16th Place ($7,706)

Dale Burner
Dale Burner
Cole Miller raised from under the gun, and it folded around to Dale Burner who called from the big blind. The flop came {K-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Burner checked, and Miller bet 5,000. Burner then check-raised to 10,000, at which point all realized they weren't betting the right amounts -- bets before and after the flop are 10,000 on this level, not 5,000. So it ended up being just a bet and call.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}. Burner again checked, Miller bet, and Burner called. The {Q-Hearts} was dealt on the river, and again Burner checked, Miller bet, and Burner called.

Miller showed {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, and Burner mucked. Miller was up to 152,000 on that one, and Burner down to just 17,000.

Soon after that hand, Burner was all in against two players (Miller and Richard Brodie) before the flop. Brodie bet Miller out of the pot on the turn when the board showed {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}. Brodie had {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a pair of eights, and Burner {Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The river was the {J-Spades}, and Burner was eliminated.

Brodie now has 141,000.

Varner Survives

John Varner is currently 16th of the 16 players remaining. He was just all in with {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} against Dominik Kulicki's {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and it looked a lot like Varner's night was going to be over.

But the board brought five diamonds and a split pot, and Varner remains alive... for now.

The Price of Poker Is Going Up

We're onto Level 20, which may be the last of the evening, as after the next break we'll be running up against our 3 a.m. curfew.

The average chip stack with 16 players left is a little over 180,000 -- about 9 big bets.

Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri remains the clear chip leader with a large lead over the field.

Doug Corning Eliminated in 17th Place ($7,706)

Doug Corning raised from the cutoff, and Jason Tam made the call from the big blind. The flop came 8-7-6. Tam checked, Corning bet, Tam check-raised, and Corning called with the rest of his stack.

Tam turned over 8-6 for two pair, while Corning showed A-J. The turn and river brought no help for Corning, and he's out. Tam is up to 190,000.
