Dwan vs. Le: Tug of War

Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Nam Le are tangled up in what has to be the toughest match in the room. On a flop showing {10-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {3-Hearts}, Dwan bet out 1,700, and Le called.

Fourth street was the {5-Spades}, and both players checked. When the {7-Spades} hit the river, Dwan grabbed chips and looked like he wanted to make a bet. After a moment though, he thought better and both he and Le checked.

Nam Le tabled {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}, and it was good enough to win him the pot and give him just a very slight lead over durrrr.

Will Not Thrilled at the Moment

Will "The Thrill" Failla has just been knocked down to 9,000 chips, and he was not happy about it. The board showed {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}. Failla bet 1,500 on the flop, and 3,000 on the turn with his opponent calling both bets. Both players checked the river, and Failla's foe tabled {Q-?} {J-?}. It was the winner; Failla looked to be steaming as he flung his cards into the muck.

Dwan vs. Le: Dwan Takes the Lead

Nam Le has been tightening the screws on Tom Dwan, and he had about a two-to-one chip lead before this hand. We join the pot on the turn with the board showing {9-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {J-Hearts}. Nam Le checked and then called a bet of 2,800 from Dwan. The river card came the {Q-Clubs}, and Dwan fired another bet, this time a more significant 7,600 chips. Le went into the tank for at least a full minute before making the call.

Dwan tabled {J-Clubs} {5-Clubs}, and Le cringed and mucked his cards. After that exchange, the match has drawn back close to even, with durrrr actually holding a slight lead.

Hellmuth Down to 11,400

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
On a board of {K-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {A-Spades} a player checked to Phil Hellmuth who checked behind.

Hellmuth's opponent flipped over {A-?} {6-?} for two pair courtesy of a river ace.

Hellmuth shot out of his chair, muttering some indiscernible comments under his breath. He sat down and said "Well played buddy" twice and the match continued.

Kostritsyn Falls to Roberts

Evan Roberts has just knocked off Alexander Kostritsyn in their first-round match. Kostrityn raised before the flop, and Roberts three-bet it up to 3,200. Kostritsyn moved all in for about 12,000 total, and Roberts called him down.

Showdown
Kostritsyn: {A-?} {6-?}
Roberts: {J-?} {J-?}

The board ran out {9-?} {5-?} {4-?} {3-?} {8-?}, holding Roberts' pair of jacks and sending Kostritsyn out the door.

Erick Lindgren Eliminated

Erick Lindgren won't be advancing to the second round today. He and Jesper Petersen got tangled up in a pre-flop raising war, and it ended with all of Lindgren's chips going into the middle preflop. He held {Q-?} {Q-?} and was racing against Petersen's {A-?} {K-?} suited. An ace on the turn was all Petersen needed to seal the deal, eliminating Lindgren and moving on to the next round.

Evelyn Ng Defeats Vivek Rajkumar

Vivek Rajkumar recently won a $10,000 Heads Up Tournament at the LAPC, however, today he would not be able to advance beyond the first round.

On a flop of {4-?} {6-?} {7-?} Vivek was all in with an open-ended straight draw against Evelyn Ng's top pair. The board bricked out for Rajkumar, eliminating him from the tournament.
