Sugar Bear Finds Some Honey

Our reporter just approachd Max Stern's and Al Barbieri's table to see that they were playing four-handed.

"What happened?" he asked Barbieri.

"What happened?" Barbieri parroted back. "I just knocked out three players, that's what happened! I'm up to 30,000."

That could be a tournament-leading stack.

Phil Ivey's Stack Eliminated

Razz:

Phil Ivey's stack has been eliminated from the tournament. On Ivey's stack's final hand, it made fives full of aces. That's not the object in razz, of course. The object is to make a low hand. Ivey's stack's opponent made a king-queen, also not ordinarily a winning razz hand -- but good enough in this instance.

Phil Ivey's stack is still alive in Event 30, $2,500 PLO, where it has about 36,000 chips. Perhaps Phil Ivey's stack will win an eighth bracelet in that event. It certainly won't be this one.

One Pair Enough for the Mighty Thor

Stud:

Opponent: x-x / {3-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {9-Spades} FOLD
Luske: x-x / {9-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} / x
Hanson: x-x / {2-Diamonds} {k-Hearts} {A-Spades} {6-Spades} / x

Who says Seven-Card Stud is a race to two pair? After one player completed the {3-Clubs}, Marcel Luske and Thor Hansen both called. Hansen checked fourth street to the third player, who bet and was raised by Luske. Hansen called through the raise as did the third player.

On fifth street, action checked to Luske. He bet and was called only by Hansen. It was the same action on sixth street, with both players checking the river. Luske turned up {9-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {4-Hearts} in the hole for a pair of nines; Hansen managed to produce a king as one of his hole cards for a pair of kings. A sizable pot was pushed to Hansen, allowing him to climb to 19,500 in the counts.

The Home Stretch

This is it. We've made it to the final level of the night. From a starting field of 770 runners, we're down to 312. We'll probably finish with a shade less than 200.

Every Chip Matters...

Hold'em:

It's a small (very small) double-up for Paul Darden in the hold'em round. He was all in preflop with pocket sixes and called by a player with Big Slick. The flop was gave Darden a sweat, {J-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, but there was no further harm as the rest of the board ran out {8-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}. The small double-up pushed Darden's count up to 3,200.

Hanging On... or Not

Erick Lindgren was crippled to just 300 chips during the Omaha Hi/Lo round. His opponent showed down {A-Spades} {4-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} on a board of {2-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}, the nut low and the second-nut high. Lindgren managed to scoop the very next pot to climb to 1,200 but was eliminated shortly thereafter. At least he left the Brasilia Room smiling and laughing.

Meanwhile, Paul Darden was also in the Omaha Hi/Lo round in a three-way pot against Al Barbieri and one other player. "Sugar Bear" Barbieri led the betting all the way to the river, where he folded to Darden's all-in bet on a board of {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {3-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Darden is up to 7,900.

Haley Hintze Eliminated

Spotted leaving the Brasilia Room just a few minutes ago was one of our commanders here at PokerNews. The editor-in-chief of the .com site, Haley Hintze, has been eliminated.

Negreanu Crippled

Kid Poker
Kid Poker
Stud:

Negreanu: x-x / {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Spades} FOLD
Opponent: x-x / {7-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {5-Clubs}
Opponent2: x-x / {3-Hearts} {k-Hearts} {q-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

It's not looking like Daniel Negreanu's day. He was crippled in a recent hand after leading the betting all the way to sixth street in a three-way pot, where he check-folded to preserve his last few hundred chips. Negreanu managed to double up the next hand by making aces up, then caught another double in Stud Hi/Lo. But even despite those pots, he's only on about 3,200 chips right now.
