This Ain't the Internet, Son

Hold'em:

A pot developed as a battle of the blinds between Justin Bonomo and Mike Matusow. Bonomo opened with a raise from the small blind that Matusow promptly reraised. Bonomo called and then checked the {K-Clubs} {3-Spades} {6-Clubs} flop to Matusow. He fired a bet that Bonomo called.

Both players checked the {A-Hearts} turn and the {A-Spades} river. Matusow's {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, aces and tens, was no match for Bonomo's {A-Diamonds} {4-Clubs}, trip aces.

"Good flop for ya," said a disgusted Matusow. He then added, "That was an internet call on the flop."

Brett Richey Eliminated

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Brett Richey was heads up for a bracelet earlier today in Event 27, $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. He won't have to dream about a similar scenario in this H.O.R.S.E. event.

Richey got the last of his chips in holding {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts}. The board showed {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {6-Spades}; Richey's low straight was no good against his opponent's {9-Spades} {7-Spades} X - X. Richey can now go out and celebrate his second-place finish from earlier today.

Adios Miranda

The last of the tables have been cleared out of the Miranda Room. The whole party's in the Brasilia Room now. The tournament staff have just announced official numbers for the tournament. 770 players entered; 72 will be paid. The bottom rung of the payout schedule with get $2,848. 1st prize is worth $247,033.

We'll try to get the rest of the prize money breakdown onto the Prizepool page as soon as we can.

Razz-a-ma-tazz

Razz:

Barry Greenstein: x-x / {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {Q-Spades} / x
Opponent: x-x / {3-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} / x

You have to be careful when you're playing the razz round against the defending WSOP champion in Razz -- Barry Greenstein. Greenstein's opponent raised third street after Greenstein completed, then bet fourth and fifth streets. Greenstein called each time.

On sixth street, Greenstein's opponent called a bet. That slowed Greenstein down on the river. He checked, then folded to a bt. Greenstein still retains about 7,500 chips.

Recent Eliminations

Almost simultaneously, Gavin Smith and Markus Golser got up from their respective tables and exited the Brasilia Room. Their tournament ends in Level 5.

The same is true for Jason Newitt. He was all in during the Omaha Hi/Lo round with {A-?} {2-?} {4-?} (X) on a board of {A-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. David Singer called with {2-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} and promptly turned and river {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} to scoop both halves of the pot.

Billy "the Croc" Argyros made his exit during the Stud round. He made a pair of kings and lost to a diamond flush. The dealer who dealt the hand looks a bit like Elvis, prompting Argyros to quip, "Thanks Elvis. I'm leaving the building first."
