Hellmuth Up There

Phil Hellmuth is now in contention for the chip lead -- he's up to 32,000.

A raising war on the {A-Spades} {7-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} flop led Hellmuth and his opponent to see a {K-Diamonds} turn. Hellmuth bet out and then called a raise, and then bet out on the {9-Hearts} river. His opponent called but soon mucked -- Hellmuth turned over {K-Clubs} {K-Spades} for a turned set.

New Chip Leader

One gentleman has now passed the 40,000 mark, and he is one Mikhail Tulchinskiy.

Marcel Luske is also not far behind -- he's up to 30,000.

Ice Vs. Needle

Guess who this is?
Guess who this is?
The Iceman and the Needle King were in a blind on blind confrontation.

Teddy "Iceman" Monroe raised from the small blind and Marc "Needle King" Naalden called out of the big. Iceman bet every street of the {10-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} board and Naalden flatted every street until the river, when he raised. Monroe passed and dropped down to 12,600; Naalden meanwhile moved on up to 14,000.

Hang Tough

New chip leader!

Chips are flying around faster than the one terrified moth that always manages to find its late-night way into the Amazon Room, and the beneficiary of a big chunk of those is Mr Tommy Hang -- he's up to 50,000.

Mueller's Still Here

It's tough to be the world champion
It's tough to be the world champion
Greg Mueller is below average but better than he was -- he's up to 13,500 after knocking out a player.

The soon-to-be-busted gent in question raised in mid position and Mueller called out of the big blind; the last of the unfortunate's chips went in on the flop and although he picked up a couple outs on the turn, none of them came through on the river and out he went.

Hapless bustee: {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Mueller: {9-Spades} {5-Spades}

Board: {5-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds}

Granstad Finish

A total lack of chips for Mr. Henning Granstad, and the necessary conclusion that he is busto.

He called a raise preflop, as did the gent in the big blind, and they went three-way to a {10-Spades} {9-Hearts} {K-Clubs} flop. The big blind checked and the original raiser bet; Granstad raised and the big blind got out of their way. The original raiser reraised, Granstad called all in, and was most disappointed to see his {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} dominated by Mr. Original Raiser's {A-Spades} {K-Spades}.

No help for Granstad from the {10-Clubs} turn or {A-Diamonds} river and out he went, not long before the end of the day.
