Going, Gavin, Gone

Smith - not so cheery
Smith - not so cheery
Gavin Smith had somehow dropped down to, er, 250 chips. So he did the decent thing and called all in to a raise in a five-way pot, but come the river of the {2-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {K-Spades} he couldn't beat the winner's {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}; he mucked, and he departed.

Prize Pool Announced

446 runners coughed up the $2,000 for this event, generating a prize pool of $811,720, with 45 places paying out and a cool $190,770 going to the winner. Whoop!

Dragan Breathing Fire

Lurking outside the Poker Kitchen at the break, Dragan Galic was very frustrated. Turns out there was a raise preflop and Galic reraised with pocket aces; a third player called.

Galic bet out on the raggy flop and the initial raiser folded, but the third player called. A king came on the turn and a ten on the river -- and Galic's opponent flipped over {K-?} {10-?}. "This is the last limit event I play in the US," sighed Galic.

Kings for Von Halle

Jan von Halle bet in position on a {2-Clubs} {5-Spades} {7-Spades} flop and then called the check-raise from his opponent.

He bet to another check on the {4-Spades} turn, and once more on the {9-Spades} river. His opponent finally folded on the river, and von Halle showed him pocket kings for his trouble while he raked in the sizable pot.

Cunningham Sinking

Dreadfulness for Allen Cunningham. We caught up with him on the turn of a {7-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {5-Clubs} board, when he raised from the button to a bet from the small blind.

The small blind checked the {6-Clubs} river and then called the bet from Cunningham -- and then proceeded to take the pot when his {K-Hearts} {10-Spades} stayed good against Cunningham's {K-?} {8-?}.

Cunningham is down to just 1,000.

Pam Brunson Bullies Mueller

Ms Brunson - bully
Ms Brunson - bully
An enormous three-way pot for Pam Brunson, who played it aggressively enough to push Greg Mueller off what he says was pocket queens.

A gent in mid-position raised and Brunson reraised in late position. Mueller flatted out of the big blind with, as we've mentioned, his alleged pocket queens, and the original raiser called too.

Flop: {10-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}

It checked around to Brunson who bet, and Mueller raised; the original raiser in mid-position called, and both Mueller and he called the reraise from Brunson. Interesting.

Once again the action checked around to Brunson on the {6-Hearts} turn and once again she bet; Mueller now decided he was beaten and laid it down. Mr Mid-Position called.

River - hilariously, provided that Mueller passed pocket queens -- {Q-Diamonds}

Mr Mid-Position check-called Brunson's bet, and mucked when she turned over {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}.

"I just bullied Greg Mueller out of a pot," said Brunson happily." "Yeah, retorted Mueller, "She bullied me with top set." Our bully is up to 7,000.
