Davis Finds Value

Ray Davis
Ray Davis
We're still getting eliminations, but play has become more cautious now that we're down to single digits in tables. We watched Ray Davis limp into a pot from middle position and take a three-handed flop with the two blinds, one of whom was Benjamin Kang, who feels that by this point of the tournament he could have busted Davis two or three times if the cards had fallen right.

Each player checked the {7-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs} flop and the {5-Clubs} turn. When action checked to Davis on the {3-Hearts} river, he tried a bet of 6,000 chips. The small blind decided to look Davis up and mucked when Davis showed {6-Clubs} {6-Spades}.

Davis is up to 342,000 in chips.

Baker Burned

Amanda Baker - Out
Amanda Baker - Out
Amanda Baker was first into the pot from the cutoff, and she moved all in for her last 40,000 chips. On the button, the aforementioned Conrad Monica made the call to put her at risk.

Showdown
Baker: {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}
Monica: {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}

The board would run down {4-Hearts} {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {9-Spades}, no fun for Baker. She couldn't win her race, and it will be the last race of her tournament.

Levy Not Having a Banner Night

Adam "Roothlus" Levy - Out
Adam "Roothlus" Levy - Out
From middle position, Steve Banner came in with a raise to 18,000. Action came all the way around to Adam "Roothlus" Levy in the small blind, and he moved all in for 83,000. Banner called to put Roothlus at risk.

Showdown
Banner: {6-Spades} {6-Clubs}
Levy: {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The flop was a good miss for Levy, coming down {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {10-Clubs} to add four more outs to his gutshot. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn was a blank though, as was the {A-Clubs} that filled out the board. Failing to improve and win his race, Adam Levy has been shown the door with about 70 players remaining.

Kang Hanging On

Benjamin Kang is riding the short stack tonight, and so far he's holding his own. In the last pot, Kang was facing an early-position raise to 15,000. Kang moved all in, and his opponent quickly folded.

It's not much, but it has chipped Kang up to 111,000. He's still well below average too, but so far that's not fazing the PokerStars pro.

Welcome Back to the Party, Nam Le!

Nam Le
Nam Le
We feel like Nam Le has been grinding, and grinding, and grinding his way through this tournament without ever having many chips. He just got a shot in the arm.

A short stack opened all in for 78,000 and was called by the player on his left. Action folded to Le, who then reraised all in for a total of 120,000. That folded all other players back to the original caller, who called that raise as well.

All-in player: {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Caller: {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs}
Le: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}

The board ran out safely for Le, {9-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {j-Clubs} {9-Spades}. He eliminated the all-in player and crippled the caller in the process of increasing his count from 120,000 to almost 330,000.

New Life for Charania

We came to Dmitriy Boshenyatov's table on a flop of {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}. Boshenyatov was in the pot with overnight chip leader Mohsin Charania. The two got all the chips in the middle, with Charania the player at risk of elimination. He was on a draw, {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. Boshenyatov turned over middle pair, {A-?} {Q-?}. The flush draw filled straight away with a turn {6-Diamonds}. The pot belonged to Charania once the river {5-Hearts} came down.

Charania is up to 190,000. Boshenyatov has about the same.

Kang Still Hanging On

The blinds are 4,000 and 8,000 now, which is making Benjamin Kang's short stack seem a little shorter. But he's still grinding out pots where he can. He opened preflop for 18,000 and was called by the big blind.

On a flop of {6-Clubs} {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}, Kang bet 21,000 after his opponent checked. Once his opponent called, Kang shut down for the rest of the hand. Both players checked the turn {5-Diamonds} and the river {9-Hearts}. Kang showed down {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts}, two pair tens and sixes, which was enough to take down the pot.

Kang's count is now 150,000.

Flipping Coins with Alex Jacob

Big-haired Poker
Big-haired Poker
There's only one player left in this tournament with really big hair, so when we see a player with really big hair putting chips in the pot we know it's Alex Jacob. Jacob was all in preflop and called by Lucas Priour. Jacob was drawing with {A-Hearts} {j-Diamonds} against Priour's pocket eights. An ace but no eight on the flop left Jacob in great shape for a double-up, which he secured when the turn and river came running tens.

Despite that setback, Priour still has 370,000 chips. Jacob now has 150,000.

Chairud Vangchailued: A Name Not Conducive to Puns

Chairud Vangchailued
Chairud Vangchailued
Chairud Vangchailued has been riding the roller coaster today. He was in the mix of the leaders around 240,000 a few hours ago, but his stack took a turn for the worse from then on. Eventually, Vangchailued moved to a new table with just 2,000 chips. With the blinds at 3,000/6,000, he posted a 500 ante and was all in for 1,500 from the big blind. He's multiplied his stack several times since then, and we pick him up involved in another recent pot.

On a turn board showing {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}, his foe for this hand bet out 55,000, and Vangchailued made the call for more than half of his remaining stack. The river came the {A-Hearts}, and our hero moved all in for 43,500. His opponent called, tabling {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. It was no good though; Vangchailued turned over {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}, having flopped a full boat.

After a long grind in the doldrums, Chairud Vangchailued has now doubled all the way back above average, sitting now with right at 250,000.
