Family Pot

Five players limped -- including Michael Schwartz, Dan Heimiller, J.J. Liu, and Spencer Lawrence -- and Richard Brodie checked from the big blind. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. It checked to Lawrence who bet, and only Schwartz called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, and both players checked. The river was the {10-Diamonds}. Schwartz checked, Lawrence bet, and Schwartz thought a moment before calling. Lawrence turned over {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for sixes full, and Schwartz mucked. Both are still not far from their starting stacks, with Lawrence at 4,900 and Schwartz at 4,400.

Saved by the River

After some preflop action, four players, including Marco Traniello (big blind) and Stefan Rapp (under the gun) saw a flop come {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Traniello bet, Rapp raised, the player in the cutoff called, and Traniello called as well. The turn was the {8-Hearts}. Traniello again bet, Rapp again raised, this time the third player dropped out, and Traniello called.

The river was the {K-Hearts}. Traniello checked, and Rapp paused a beat before checking behind. Traniello turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for a rivered queen-high flush. Rapp had {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} -- he'd flopped a set, then also made a lesser flush on the end.

That hand actually brings both players right back to their starting stacks of 4,500.

The Power of Position

Jimmy Fricke
Jimmy Fricke
A player in the hijack seat raised, and Jimmy Fricke three-bet from the button. It folded back around and Fricke's opponent called.

The flop came {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. The hijack checked, Fricke promptly bet, and his opponent called. The turn was the {4-Hearts}. Again, check-bet-call.

The river was the {A-Hearts}. Fricke again bet when checked to, and this time his opponent folded. Fricke is at about 4,800. Sitting next to him, Shaun Deeb has about 5,200. Across the table, Allen Cunningham and Alan Goehring both are close to their starting stacks of 4,500. Erik Haakenson has a small lead at the table with about 5,400.

Five Bets One Too Many for Naalden

Marcus Naalden raised from late position, then Todd "DanDruff" Witteles reraised from the small blind. The BB folded, and Naalden called.

The flop came {8-Spades}{J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Witteles bet, and Naalden called. The turn was the {J-Diamonds}. Witteles again bet, Naalden raised, Witteles three-bet, Naalden four-bet, and when Witteles capped it, Naalden decided to let it go.

Witteles comes back to 3,200 on that one, while Naalden slips to 5,000.

Boatman Beat

Three players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Barny Boatman bet, Dennis Phillips called, and the third player dropped out. The turn was the {9-Spades}. Boatman bet, and again Phillips called.

The river was the {7-Hearts}. This time Boatman checked, Phillips bet, and Boatman called. Phillips showed {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Boatman mucked.

Phillips has 4,100, and Boatman 3,600.

Dao Downs Young

An early elimination here. A short-stacked Jason Young exchanged raises with Stephanie Dao until Young was all in before the flop with {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} versus' Dao's {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. The board came {5-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts}, and Dao took the pot.

Young is out, and Dao has 6,300 -- just ahead of Eric Froehlich for the current lead at the table.

Seating Still Available

Or so it appears, anyway.

It looks like we may not quite reach the 640-player mark for today's event. Registration remains open up until the start of Level 3, but right now we're only showing 560 players having entered.

Full information along those lines to come.

Fricke Takes Two from Deeb

Jimmy Fricke raised from the button, Shaun Deeb three-bet from the small blind, the BB folded, and Fricke called. The flop came a provocative {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Deeb bet, and Fricke called. The turn was the {J-Hearts}, and this time Deeb check-folded to Fricke's bet.

On the next hand, Erik Haakenson raised from the hijack seat, Fricke three-bet from the cutoff, Deeb made it four from the button, and both Haakenson and Fricke called. The flop came {3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}. It checked to Deeb who bet, and both Haakenson and Fricke called. The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, and again it checked to Deeb who bet. Only Fricke stuck around this time.

The river was the {A-Spades}. Fricke checked, Deeb bet, and Fricke called. Fricke turned over {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Deeb mucked.

Fricke is at 5,100, and Deeb down to 3,500. Haakenson still appears to have the lead at the table with about 6,200, but Alan Goehring is close to that total as well.
