Top Pair No Good for Liu

Liu not as stacked as previously.
Liu not as stacked as previously.
"I guess you don't have aces then," said J.J. Liu's opponent as he opened {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. The flop was showing {3-Hearts} {j-Diamonds} {7-Spades} and Liu, sitting in the blinds, had her initial lead of roughly 10,000 raises all in by her opponent to 31,200. Liu tanked before calling.

It turned out that Liu did not have aces. She had top pair, {Q-Clubs} {J-Spades}, and did not improve on the turn {3-Spades} or river {5-Spades}. That hit knocked Liu's stack back down to 80,000.

Gerasimov Doubles An Opponent

After a raise to 4,800, Kirill Gerasimov reraised to 12,800. A player in later position then reraised all in to 36,500 total. The original raiser folded before Gerasimov made the call.

Gerasimov held {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs} and his opponent held {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. The flop came down {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and wasted little time in putting Gerasimov behind in the hand. The turn was the {6-Spades} and the river the {2-Diamonds}. Gerasimov is now down to 75,000 chips after doubling the player up.

Lisandro Still Can't Get Anything Working

Jeff Lisandro
Jeff Lisandro
We were excited yesterday about the faintest hint of an idea that Jeff Lisandro could be gearing up for another deep run. Unfortunately today he's lost every key pot. It happened again after J.J. Liu opened for 5,500. Lisandro called that raise, then saw the big blind reraise to 22,000. Liu folded, but not Lisandro -- he called.

The rest of the big blind's chips (40,000 total) were in on a flop of {J-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Lisandro called with pocket tens; the big blind showed pocket queens. There was no help for Lisandro on the {6-Hearts} turn or {2-Spades} river.

Lisandro is down to 49,000.

John Juanda Eliminated

John Juanda moved all in from the hijack seat and the player on the button woke up with pocket tens to make the call. Everyone else folded. Juanda held {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} and the board ran out {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {6-Spades} to eliminate Juanda just a few spots short of the money.

DeWitt Still Leading

Mike Caro opened the action with a raise from under the gun to 6,000. Jason DeWitt called from middle position and Sean Getzwiller called from the button.

The flop came down {J-Hearts} {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} and Caro eased off the accelerator with a check. DeWitt fired out a bet of what looked like 12,000 chips. Getzwiller folded and then Caro slid his hand in as well. DeWitt now has slightly above 375,000 chips and is the clear chip leader.

McGowan Losing Steam

Shane Schleger opened the pot to 5,500 from late position. After a call from the button, Joe McGowan raised it to 15,500 total. Max Greenwood, out of the big blind then moved all in for 76,000. Everyone folds back around to McGowan who makes the call.

Greenwood showed {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} and McGowan tabled {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} .

The board ran out {10-Hearts} {10-Spades} {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} . This took McGowan down to 190,000.

The very next hand Mcgowan got it all in preflop against another opponent. Once again McGowan found himself in the same situation.

McGowan: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

McGowan held the lead on the flop of {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} but when the {K-Diamonds} fell on the turn McGowan once again was looking to lose. The river came the {K-Spades} and McGowan is down to 106,000.

Jeff "The Iceman" Lisandro raised in preflop action and was reraised by an opponent. Lisandro called the raise and the flop was put down {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. Lisandro moved all in and his opponent called. Lisandro held a pair of nines, {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}, against his opponent's two queens, {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

The turn and river were no help for Lisandro as it came {5-Hearts}, {A-Clubs} to send him to the rail.
