Bansi Folds Under Pressure

Praz Bansi
Praz Bansi
Praz Bansi was the pre-flop aggressor, but his opponent showed the most post-flop aggression. Bansi opened with a raise to 6,000 preflop that was called by the big blind. On a flop of {K-Spades} {5-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}, the big blind checked and then raised Bansi's bet of 8,700 to 21,700. Bansi tanked for more than a minute, staring at his opponent as he tried to get a read. He finally folded, preserving a stack of 80,000 chips.

Somerville Busts Gerasimov Near Bubble

Jason Somerville moves way up the leaderboard
Jason Somerville moves way up the leaderboard
We're just a couple spots off the money and a big hand just went down between Jason "JCarver" Somerville and Kirill Gerasimov.

From the cutoff seat, Somerville raised to 5,500. Gerasimov fought back from the small blind with a reraise to 14,500, which Somerville called. The two players saw the flop come down {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts}. Gerasimov checked first and Somerville checked behind.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Gerasimov checked once again to his counterpart in position. Somerville fired a bet of 19,500 after taking his time making a decision. Gerasimov then went into the tank. Eventually, he fired all in, making the total bet 75,500. Now it was Somerville's turn to go into the tank. When he emerged, his decision was to make the call.

Showdown
Somerville: {Q-Spades} {10-Clubs}
Gerasimov: {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds}

The dealer burned one last time and then dealt the river card... the {10-Diamonds} hit the felt and Somerville breathed a big sigh of relief. Gerasimov was sent to the rail just short of the money while Somerville bumped himself way up to 270,000 chips.

The Real Johnny Lodden

Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden
While on the bubble, there's often a lot of downtime between hands as you wait for the other tables to finish up action. After his hand, Johnny Lodden wandered over to Antonio Esfandiari's table and tapped him on the back.

"Johnny Lodden!" announced Esfandiari. "I can't wait to hang out with you, when do we get to hang out and play Lodden Thinks?"

Lodden laughed and then Esfandiari continued, "I can't wait to play Lodden Thinks with the real Johnny Lodden. There will be no replacements. Will the real Johnny Lodden please stand up!?!"

"I can't wait." responded Lodden.

"No, really. How can I hang out with Johnny Lodden, really? What do I have to do?" questioned Esfandiari.

Lodden just shrugged and smiled before wandering back over to his table.

"I promise I won't ask you to teach me how to play poker, I just wanna hang out." finished Esfandiari.

Markholt Flush with Chips

We still don't have our bubble boy but Lee Markholt has more chips now. We saw him involved in a big pot with Tim Horan. On a board of {7-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and with bout 50,000 chips already in the middle, Markholt bet 19,000. Horan called, then mucked in disappointment when Markholt showed {K-Clubs} {j-Clubs} for a club flush.

That loss knocked Horan back to 122,000; Markholt is up to approximately 110,000.

The Bubble Bursts

One player raised to 7,000 before another player reraised to 20,000. A third player on the button called and then a fourth player reraised all in for 26,000 total. All three of the other players called.

The flop came down {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades}. and everyone checked. The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and everyone checked again. The river was the {8-Hearts} and the first of the remaining three players, the player that originally opened to 7,000 preflop, bet 20,000. The other two players folded.

The all-in player tabled pocket aces, for flopped top set. His only opponent left showed {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds} to complete the straight to the queen. The player with the aces was busted on the bubble and all the remaining players are now in the money.

Nordberg Short of Chips

On one of the first post-bubble hands, Peter "Nordberg" Feldman called the all-in raise of a player on his right. That player showed {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} to Feldman's {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} but prompltly flpped the nuts {6-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, to leave Feldman drawing dead.

Feldman is down to just 18,000 chips.
