Day 2 Starts at 2.30pm

These will be flying around soon
These will be flying around soon
Morning all, and welcome back to the delightfully air-conditioned confines of the Brasilia Room. Some bags of chips are out on some tables, but the Stud 8 restart has been pushed back until 2.30pm to allow for some of the NLH tables which have encroached on our territory to break.

Excellent, time for coffee -- it's going to be a long one today. We'll be back in 40 minutes, when we'll begin the slog down to a final table or 3am, whichever comes first.

Shawn of All Pretence

Shawn Kimmel has had a pretty good start -- he bet on every street and Max Pescatori called him all the way (Barry Greenstein called him too until 5th street before giving up). Come 7th street, Kimmel turned over aces up and Pescatori mucked, giving Kimmel a much-needed chip booster.

Kimmel: {6-Hearts} {3-Spades} {J-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} ({A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {J-Spades})
Pescatori: {2-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} (mucked)
Greenstein: {4-Hearts} {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} (folded)

Jelinek Wobbling

A mixed start to the day for PLO8 final tabler Steve Jelinek. "I did half my stack on the first hand," he told us, "But I've managed to get some of it back."

The details of how he lost those chips initially are hazy, but he some back after chopping a three-way pot with Justin Bonomo.

Bonomo bet out on every street down to 6th and a lady opponent and Jelinek both called all the way down, Jelinek raising on 6th street and then betting on 7th. All three made it to showdown, at which point Bonomo took the low, Jelinek took the high with a flush and their opponent just mucked.

Bonomo: {3-Spades} {8-Spades} {4-Spades} {2-Hearts} ({6-Spades} {7-Hearts} {2-Clubs})
Jelinek: {4-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} ({7-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds})
Ms Opponent: {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} (mucked)

Getting Luskey

Coffee masquerading as chips
Coffee masquerading as chips
My, how fast things change.

Marcel Luske is down to 21,000. We're not sure what did most of the damage, but we know it was much worse than that as he just know scooped a nice pot from Timothy D'Alessandro.

Luske: {2-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} ({5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {6-Spades})
D'Alessandro: {5-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} {3-Spades} ({A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {8-Clubs})

Jon's Fortunes Turning

Pearljammin' yesterday
Pearljammin' yesterday
Jon "Pearljammer" Turner had a bit of a dip but is back up to 25,000 after he made a higher two pair than his opponent to take a decent-sized pot.

Turner: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} ({3-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades})
Mr Lower Two Pair: {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} ({A-Hearts} X X)
