Snowing in the Amazon Room
It may be frigid cold inside the Amazon Room, but who would've thought Steve Zolotow would be bringing out the snow. After Zolotow raised from the button to 1,600, Tommy Vedes called out of the big blind. Vedes then drew two and Zolotow stood pat. Vedes checked and Zolotow fired 3,300. Vedes folded, showing three threes. Zolotow showed three fours and won the pot.
"I don't know why you guys play so tight at this table," said Zolotow.
What Would You Do (Vs. Jesus)?
We just came on a hand between Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Phil Tom. With about 10,000 in the pot and the draw completed, Ferguson had set his stack of 18,500 all in, and Tom was in the tank trying to decide what to do.
Finally he folded, showing his hand to Ferguson as he did. "Ten-eight?" asked a player across the table. Tom nodded. "
," he said. "What do you think?" he asked of the table. "C'mon," he said, "it's him," pointing a thumb toward Ferguson, indicating that he felt there was little chance Ferguson would commit his stack with a hand Tom could've beaten.
Ferguson remained silent throughout, returning to his book when once his chips were stacked. He has about 29,000 now.
Dwan Calls with a Pair
Tom Dwan raised to 1,675 and Tom Schneider called in the cutoff seat. John Monnette called on the button and then Andy Bloch called from the small blind. Four players went to the draw and first to decide was Bloch. He tossed away one card before Dwan took two. Schneider drew one and then Monnette drew one.
After the draw, action checked to Schneider. He fired 4,500 and Monnette folded. Bloch folded as well and then Dwan thought about it for a little while before making the call. Shneider held a pair of threes in his hand and Dwan called him with the 
, a pair of his own with deuces. Dwan's hand was good and his read was spot on. He's now up to 50,000 chips. Schneider's down to 33,000.

Oh, I Have Seen Michael Mizrachi Play All Right
Michael Mizrachi just stood up from the table to check in on his brother, Robert. Robert has about 28,000 at present, and was disappointed to hear Michael only had 24,000.
Mike Matusow, sitting one table over, got involved in the conversation. As he will do from time to time.
"What's he got?" asked Matusow.
"24," said Robert. "We have last longers," he explained, noting how the two brothers were together hoping to outlast those against whom they'd made their side bets.
"You have a last longer with Michael Mizrachi?" asked Matusow. "Have you seen Michael Mizrachi play?!?"
"Yes," said Robert with a wide grin. "I was at the final table with him." Indeed, just last week, Michael won Event No. 2, the $50,000 Player's Championship, while Robert finished fifth.
One for Jesus
The Godfather of Poker, Doyle Brunson, raised to 1,500 from the button and Chris Ferguson reraised to 4,500 from the small blind. Brunson called and then both players drew one card apiece. After the draw, both players checked.
Ferguson showed a 
and Brunson flashed only a queen and then mucked. He's down to 35,000 while Ferguson moved back up a bit to 26,000.
All in the Family
Speaking of the Mizrachis, we have a number of family members playing together in this event -- two sets of siblings, a father and son, and a husband and wife.
We just mentioned how Robert Mizrachi currently sits with 28,000 while his brother Michael has about 24,000. That puts both below the average 35,200 at present. Michael Binger is also fighting an uphill battle with 21,000 at present, while his brother Nick is even shorter-stacked with 9,000.
Doyle Brunson currently has 34,000, while his son Todd has 42,000. And while Vanessa Rousso -- the only woman to play this event, incidentally -- has been eliminated, her husband Chad Brown remains in the game with a stack of 33,000.
Baking Up a Few Pots
After the draw, Jason Mercier fired out a bet of 6,750 and David Baker tank-called. Mercier showed a 
and Baker mucked, dropping to 68,000. Mercier moved up to 39,000.
On the next hand, Mercier raised from the cutoff seat to 1,350. Eli Elezra called on the button and then Baker three-bet to 7,100. Mercier folded as did Elezra and Baker moved back up to 72,250.
On the hand after that, Baker raised to 1,700 from the button. Daniel Negreanu called from the small blind. Negreanu drew two and Baker drew one. Both players then checked and Negreanu tabled a 
. Baker mucked and is now on 70,425.
Vedes Leading
Nick Schulman raised to 1,500 and then Tommy Vedes reraised from the small blind to 4,200. Schulman made the call. Vedes drew one and Schulman stood pat.
After the draw, Vedes fired 6,000 and Schulman raised to 16,000. Vedes made the call and won with his 
. Schulman mucked and dropped to 15,500. Vedes looks to be the chip leader now with 92,000 chips.
