We picked up the action on this one on the turn, at which point all of Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier's stack made its way into the middle against Miguel Proulx who had ElkY covered.
The board showed . Grospellier held for a set of sevens, while Proulx had for a wrap draw plus a diamond flush draw.
The river brought the and gave Proulx the flush, knocking Grospellier out with just a few minutes left in Level 12. Proulx jumpes up to 152,000.
Action seems to have slowed as the money bubble approaches. In a recent hand, action folded all the way around to Thomas Bichon, who was in the small blind. He decided to limp and T.J. Cloutier checked from the big blind.
The two saw a flop of and both checked. When the hit the turn, Bichon bet a modest 2,500 and Cloutier quickly folded.
Players seem content to keep things small and play patiently.
Joe Serock raised to 4,200 from under the gun, and the table folded around to Luc Greenwood in the cutoff who announced he was raising pot to 15,000. The button and blinds skedaddled, and Serock made the call.
The flop was a paralyzing . No betting there. Nor following the turn.
When Serock checked the river, Greenwood pushed out a bet of 7,000, and Serock tossed his hand. Greenwood smiled -- perhaps mischievously, perhaps not -- as he restacked his 75,000 chips. Serock is at 84,000.
About five minutes after that hand with Joe Serock, Luc Greenwood found himself in a big one versus Chau Giang. Following a flop, Giang bet 20,000, Greenwood reraised all in, and Giang called.
Giang
Greenwood
Greenwood was ahead with his set of eights, but the turn brought the and a better set for Giang. The river was the , and Greenwood is suddenly out. Giang, meanwhile, jumps to 205,000 -- close to T.J. Cloutier territory.
On a flop of , Brian Powell bet 23,000 into the 25,000 pot and had Ashkan Razavi move all in. Powell made the call for his tournament life and the two flipped over their cards:
Powell:
Razavi:
Powell's two pair was much smaller than Razavi and he was looking to improve. Lucky for him, the hit the turn and gave him a straight. The on the turn gave Powell the pot and a double up to 95,000. Meanwhile, Razavi was knocked down to 22,000.
Miguel Proulx raised to 4,000 from early position, then Daniel Smith reraised to 14,000 from the button, leaving himself just 10,500 behind. Proulx made the call.
The flop came . Proulx checked, Smith shoved, and Proulx called. Proulx showed , while Smith tabled . The turn was the and the river the , and Smith survives.
Smith bumps up close to 50,000, while Proulx now has 134,000.
Even with the recent elimination of Bertrand Grospellier, PokerStars Team Pro France is still well represented by Thomas Bichon, who started the day with around 30,000 and has managed to add to his stack.
In a recent hand, action folded around to Bichon in the cutoff and he decided to raise to 4,000. Everyone else folded and he swiped the blinds, but not before flashing the to the table. Bichon is now sitting with nearly 82,000!
On a flop of , and about 5,000 in the pot, Justin Gardenhire bet 4,000 and was reraised the pot by Sandra Naujoks, for a total of 23,200. All other players in the hand folded back to Gardenhire and he contemplated making the call.
"How much do you have behind?" asked Gardenhire. It turned out to be only 2,400, so he then announced, "All in." Of course Naujoks called and the two turned over their hands:
Gardenhire:
Naujoks:
Naujoks was in great position to double up with top two pair and the nut flush redraw. The on the turn changed nothing and all Naujoks had to do was avoid a six on the river to double up.
The dealer burned and revealed the on the river. Naujoks took down the pot and got a much needed double up to around 64,000.
