DeBora Vaults Up the Board

From the cutoff seat, Greg DeBora opened the pot with a raise. Phil Galfond three-bet him from the button, and the two men went off to a heads-up flop.

It came {8-Spades} {9-Spades} {5-Hearts}, and DeBora knocked the table. He check-raised a Galfond bet, and they each put in two small bets to see the {5-Clubs} on the turn. Galfond called another DeBora bet there, and one last one on the {A-Diamonds} river to go to showdown.

DeBora's {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} was good for two pair, and good enough to win the pot. He's all the way up to 200,000 now, comfortably in the top five by our tally.

Galfond - 32,000

The Dinner Bell Tolls

Play On!

The dinner break has come and gone, and we've got six delicious levels of poker on the dessert menu. The players are back in their seats, and the cards are in the air once again.

Greenstein Getting Short

Barry Greenstein raised before the flop, and Darren Woods made it three bets to go. Greenstein called, and the two men took a heads-up flop of {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}.

Greenstein check-raised on that flop, and both he and Woods put in two small bets going to the turn. It brought the {7-Hearts}, and Greenstein's big bet was quickly called. The river came the {J-Hearts}, and Greenstein fired again. This time, Woods stuck in a river raise, and Greenstein called the extra bet to see the cards.

Woods tabled {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} for the set, and it was plenty good enough to win him that nice pot. He's up to about 130,000 now, while Greenstein has been crippled all the way back down to 28,000.

It's Good to Be Russian

Evan Shapiro got his chips into the pot preflop on a four-bet shove against Vitaly Lunkin. When the cards were turned up, Shapiro saw that his {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} was racing for double or nothing against the Russian's {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

The flop was kind to Shapiro as it came down {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} {J-Hearts} to give him a strong grip on the pot with his set of jacks. Just as quickly as it had come, though, the {10-Clubs} appeared on fourth street, bringing Lunkin into a big lead with his king-high straight. Shapiro needed to fill up or better to stay alive, but the river {5-Hearts} was a blank and a miss.

Shapiro is out just after dinner, and Lunkin is now sitting with 120,000 in front of him.

Five on the River

Phew!
Phew!

Bill Chen opened for a raise from middle position, Justin Bonomo called from the small blind and Barry Greenstein called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and the action was checked around to Chen, who bet. Bonomo called, Greenstein raised all-in for his last 8,500, Chen folded and Bonomo called.

Greenstein {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Bonomo {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Greenstein was looking for a miracle five on the river to stave off elimination and he got it, the {5-Spades} falling to give him the 50,000 pot.

So Long, Schulman

Nick Schulman was all in for his last 10,000 before the flop with {5-Hearts} {5-Spades}, and he ran smack into Ugur Marangoz just-better {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades}.

The board ran out {J-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {7-Spades} {K-Diamonds}, and that's no help at all for the underpair. Out-pipped and now out the door, Nick Schulman has been eliminated.
