Newman is Nomore

Clayton Newman moved all-in for his remaining 80,000 chips or so and was called by William "Bart" Davis.

Race time:
Newman: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Davis: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Davis jumped to a lead on the {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{A-Clubs} flop and Newman couldn't find a nine on either the turn ({Q-Spades}) or the river ({3-Hearts}). Newman hit the rail and Davis increased his stack to 520,000 chips.

Double for Dover

Grant Dover open-shoved from under the gun and another player moved all-in as well from middle position. The rest of the action folded and the hands were tabled:

Dover: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Middle Position: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Dover's stack grew to 140,000 chips.

Misstep For Aguiar

Jonathan Aguiar found a way to win from behind in his last blind-for-blind shove, this time he wasn't so fortunate.

Action folded to Aguiar in the small blind who tanked momentarily. His opponent was staring at him with his mouth wide open for at least half a minute before Aguiar announced, "All in."

His opponent sweated his cards and quickly called. Aguiar tabled {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and his opponent let out a quick yell while slamming {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} onto the table.

The dealer burned a card then fanned {3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{A-Spades}, a terrible flop for Aguiar. The {K-Hearts} on the turn sealed the deal making the {2-Hearts} on the river but a formality.

Aguiar sent 121,000 chips directly to his left and now only has about 110,000 chips to his name.

Joanides Still in the House

Thomas Joanides
Thomas Joanides

Thomas Joanides, who has had a very up-and-down sort of day, has doubled up to 200,000.

The chips all went in preflop, Joanides holding {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} against his opponent's {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}. The board rolled out a full-house-tastic {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs}, and the pot was shipped to Joanides.

Every Damn Time

With 35,000 in the middle and the board reading {3-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Dana Kellstrom was faced with an all-in bet of 88,000 chips in front of him.

“Every time,” Kellstrom muttered. “Every damn time.”

Evidently Kellstrom and his opponent have some history today, and after a few minutes in the tank he decided to take a stand against him and call.

“You’re way ahead,” his opponent announced tabling {6-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a pair of fives and a gut-shot straight draw.

Kellstrom opened a pair of black jacks and held when the turn and river came {Q-Hearts}, {A-Spades}.

With that knockout Kellstrom moved to over half a million chips and now sits with 560,000 chips.

Yes We McCann

Thomas McCann raised in early position only for the player in the small blind to go all in for around 60,000. McCann tanked up for a while, and then decided he'd take a shot at it.

All-in player: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
McCann: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Board: {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

"Are you kidding me?" said the newly busted player upon McCann making a straight. "Nice catch."

He paced the floor for a little while, the steam almost visibly coming out of his ears, before returning to hand his details to the floorman and then heading for the cage.

McCann is at 400,000.

Double for Gargano

Anthony "Nick" Gargano just survived a race situation for his tournament life.

A player opened to 35,000 from under the gun and the action folded to Gargano in the big blind who moved all-in for 181,000. His opponent called with {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Gargano opened {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Off to the races again!

The flop fell {6-Spades}{Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds} giving Gargano the early lead. The {7-Spades} on the turn missed Gargano's opponent and so too did the {6-Diamonds} on the river.

After collecting his chips, Gargano's stack looks something like 380,000 chips.

Sixes Hold for Tyner

Nancy Todd Tyner
Nancy Todd Tyner

Men Nguyen opened for 30,000, and then called the push for 53,000 total from Nancy Todd Tyner. On their backs, as it were.

Nguyen: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Tyner: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Board: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Tyner's sixes held up, and she doubled to 120,000; Nguyen meanwhile dropped to 122,000.

A rather disappointed Eric Baldwin said he'd folded pocket nines, which would have made quads. Such is poker.

Master of None

Not a Nguyenner this time
Not a Nguyenner this time

It folded around to Bart Davis in the small blind, who raised. In the big blind, Men "The Master" Nguyen went all in. Davis made the call, and it was a simple coinflip.

Davis: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Nguyen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Board: {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}

This tournament just got much, much quieter.
