Straightened Out

Terrence Chan
Terrence Chan

With around 1,500 already in the pot, Jonathan Karamalikis and Terrence Chan saw a flop of {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} where Chan led out for a few hundred. Karamalikis raised to 1,500 and Chan called.

On the {7-Hearts} turn, Chan bet again, this time to the tune of 3,000, and Karamalikis made the call.

The river came the {6-Hearts} and Chan pushed 8,200 into the middle. Karamalikis, tortured by the decision, rolled his neck and pulled a face that suggested someone had just asked him a complex maths question. Eventually, he arrived at a number and made the call, showing {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

On this occasion, however, his calculations were off as Chan showed {J-Spades}{8-Spades} for the higher straight. As a result, Chan now has 40,000 whilst Karamalikis is down to 20,000.
