Event #36: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em
Day 1a Started
It's Saturday, and you know what that means - it's time for another $1,000 no limit hold'em event. Last year's "Stimulus Special" was so overwhelmingly popular that WSOP organizers have thrown one in every weekend over this year's series.
This is the third $1K event of the series and if we're to judge by past numbers (and we are), we should be getting between 3,000 and 4,000 players signing up over our two starting days. We'll be concluding play on Wednesday when we present another lucky player with a bracelet and a huge paycheque.
As for our past $1k winers, Jeff Tebben won Event No. 24 for a cool $503,389, Stephen Gee won Event No. 13 to take home $472,479 while Aadam Daya won Event No. 3 for $625,872.
Stay with us today for every flop, river, bad beat, cooler and "one time."

TD Jack Effel just said the magical words: "Shuffle Up and Deal!" Cards are in the air.
We've got quite a few well-known players peppering the field this afternoon. So far we've spotted Tony Dunst, Kathy Liebert, Theo Tran, Paul Wassika, Scott Montgomery, Shannon Shorr, Eric Baldwin, Adam Junglen, Carter Phillips, Marco Traniello, Leo Margets, Jan Skampa and more. We're sure there's some who have escaped our initial scouting trip, but we'll catch up with them and the late arrivals shortly.
This are the Team PokerStars Pros we've just found in the tables:
- Alexandre Gomes
- Veronica Dabul
- Jason Mercier
- Dennis Phillips
- Gualter Sales
- Arnaud Mattern
- Hevad Khan
- Richard Toth
Jason Mercier is already down to just 325 chips. He's going to have some work to do if he wants to make it to the first break.

Team PokerStars Pro Alexandre Gomes opened the pot with a 75-chip raise in middle position and Jamie Rosen called in the big blind.
The flop ran out and Gomes fired a continuation bet, Rosen called. The turn card was a and Rosen check-raised to 850 chips, the 325-chip bet from Gomes.
The Brazilian moved all in for an additional 1,600 chips and Rosen called.
Gomes tabled and Rosen , the river was a bricked card and that's the end of the line for Gomes.
Jason Mercier had managed to double up after being down to about 350 chips earlier in the level. When a middle position player raised to 75 and the cutoff called, Mercier committed his entire stack of about 850. He got called by the initial raiser and the cutoff folded.

Mercier wasn't excited to see the hand he was up against. His feelings couldn't have improved as the board ran out and Mercier was headed for the rail.
