Today marks Day 1 of Event #39: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. Last year this event saw 999 players and Jeff Carris defeated Jason Somerville heads up for $313,673 and the gold bracelet. The maximum number of entrants today is 2,000.

The plan is to play one heat today, another tomorrow and then the third and final heat Wednesday where a champion will be crowned.
