End of Day 1

Fatima de Melo is one of our 140 returning players
Fatima de Melo is one of our 140 returning players

At the start of the day, 1,400 players packed the Pavilion Room with one simple objective; win your table.

We saw big names like Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier come and go quickly. Kathy Liebert, Jennifer Harman and Hal Lubarsky survived long enough to get heads up, but none of them could finish the job.

Still, some familiar faces have guaranteed themselves $5,632 and a chance to increase that prize on Day 2.

They include, but are not limited to, Fatima de Melo, Victor Ramdin, Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade, Adam “Roothlus” Levy, Robert Mizrachi, Ylon Schwartz, Terrence Chan, Adam Schoenfeld, Tony “Bond18” Dunst and Annette Obrestad.

The action will resume tomorrow at 2:30 PST where we will play one more heat before entering Day 3 with the final 14 players.

And Then There Was One

Or so we thought.

It appeared as if the heads up match had concluded, but one player has stopped play to goto the men's room.

The other table is still three-handed at the moment.

Crawling

With just two tables left, the pace has stalled completely.

One table is still three-handed, and the other is heads up with the two players simply exchanging the chip lead back and forth.

C'mon!!

Poker isn't always pretty, but a win is a win.

Scott Baumstein and his opponent were all in before the flop and the hands were tabled:

Showdown
Baumstein: {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The {3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop was clean and so too was the {q-Diamonds} on the turn.

The {8-Clubs} spiked on the river though, giving Baumstein the best and and the win.

"C'MON!!" his opponent shouted in disdain.

No one said this game was fair.
