Seat Open...?

We walked by Shirley Rosario's table recently to see her seat empty with no chips in front of it. Earlier Rosario said her table was playing very wildly. We know Rosario is an excellent O/8 player, so can only surmise that she ran into some incredibly unlucky run-bad to start the day.

Also not running well -- Tom Dwan. He's already been all in once, rivering a chop by hitting a low after getting it on with {a-Diamonds} {k-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} on the turn of a {3-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} board against a player who tabled {a-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {7-Spades} {8-Diamonds}.

Break It Up

The players are off on their first 20-minute break of the day, and the PokerNews site seems to be finished with it's afternoon break!

A quick note on the days's schedule:

They will play six more levels today (eight total) with a 60-minute lunch/dinner break after the next two. Then they'll come back for another four levels with a 20-minute break in the middle. Play should end around 3:00 am local time.

Negreanu Gets Half

We caught up with action in a four-way pot when the board read {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Daniel Negreanu started the betting, and another player raised. Barry Greenstein called, and the fourth opponent three-bet. They managed to cap the betting without forcing anyone out. The river brought the {8-Diamonds}, and Negreanu checked. One player bet, and Greenstein folded while Negreanu and the other player paid for showdown. Negreanu's {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} was good for the top half with a ten-high straight. The other two found themselves quartered, chopping half with 8-6-3-2-A lows.

Fricke's "Interesting" Timer

Leave it to the Jimmy Fricke to expound upon when something is interesting. Fricke played a fairly standard Omaha pot where one bet went in on the flop, one bet went in on the turn, and the river checked. At showdown on a {4-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {j-Spades} board, Fricke showed down {4-Spades} {7-Spades} {k-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} to take the pot with two pair. Afterwards, one of Fricke's opponents said that the hand wasn't very interesting. "Interesting things won't happen in O/8 for about eight hours."

Dwan Busto

We were surprised to see Tom "durrrr" Dwan show up for this event. We assumed that a $1,500 tournament was far below his radar and interest level. Maybe it was. Dwan spent almost the entire time he was in the tournament engrossed by his phone. He was all in earlier and survived, but when we passed by his table a few minutes ago his seat was empty and his chips were gone.

Raymer Chops a Big One

On a {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades} board, one player checked, Greg Raymer bet, and the next to act raised. The original checker called, and Raymer three-bet. The other two flat called, and Fossilman showed {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} for the nut low. His flush, however, didn't win him the top half. One opponent took that with {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for eights full. The other player mucked.

Red Section ToD Report

The field is now complete, and this level a few tables got even tougher. Phil Ivey and David Sklansky joined David Benyamine at his table. And at the Red Section's clear table of death, Todd Brunson sat down with George Danzer, Chau Giang, and David Bach. Dan Shak was added to the lineup when his table was one of the first two to break.
