Day 1 of Razz Begins Tonight
The first and only Seven Card Razz event of the 2010 World Series of Poker is set to kickoff in about an hour. Last year, the $2,500 event attracted 315 players and created a prizepool of $792,500. Among those who entered were some of the biggest names in poker including David Chiu, Matt Hawrilenko, and Jeffrey Lisandro, who went on to win the event and his third bracelet of 2009.
This year's tournament ought to be just as exciting. A number of pros have already Tweeted that they'll be playing the event and the tournament staff are hard at work preparing the tables. PokerNews will be busy bringing you hand updates, chip counts, and all the latest action throughout the day. In addition, a member of Team PokerNews' live reporting team, Mickey Doft, will be playing in the event. He will begin the day in Seat 5 of Table 301 in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room. We're anxious to see how he can do, but one thing is for sure, he will be competing against some stiff competition.

The event has just begun and there are a lot of notables in the field. Some of the players in today's tournament include Erik Seidel, Jerry Buss, Barry Greenstein, Billy Baxter, Greg Raymer and Chris Bjorin.
There are sure to be more recognizable faces trickling in throughout the first couple levels.
Greenstein Losses One
Barry Greenstein was recently involved in a hand with the player in Seat 1, who bet every street.
Heading into seventh street, Greenstein's board read 
while Seat 1 showed 
. Greenstein called the last bet and mucked when his opponent turned over 
for a 7-4-3-2-A low.
Greenstein took a small hit to his stack.

We didn't catch the action, but we arrived just in time to see PokerNews' own Mickey Doft turning over the wheel at the end of the hand. His opponent mucked, and Doft took an early bolster to 8,500.
PokerStars Pros in the Field
Team PokerStars is well represented in today's Razz field. Among those spread throughout the Blue Section of the Amazon Room are Barry Greenstein, Tom McEvoy, Jason Mercier, Katja Thater, Lex Veldhuis, Pat Pezzin, Humberto Brenes, Joe Hachem, Greg Debora, Greg Raymer and Johannes Steindl.
Will one of the team members have what it takes to win the bracelet? Only time will tell.
Early Days
This can be kind of a slow game at this early stage, when the limits are small and the stacks all still fairly even. A lot of players are fiddling with their phones, concentrating on their assorted lunches, or practising chip riffling for later, when it might come in handy. Barry Greenstein seems to be sleeping.
The most fun so far seems to be being had by Allie Prescott, who has brought along an iPad and is frantically hammering at what appear to be aliens and variously sized mushrooms. We cannot guess the aim of this game beyond hammering at everything in sight, but it looks really fun.
Table of Death Further Away from Death than Rest of Field
We have identified what seems to be the scariest table in the room, and amazingly for a non-hold'em event, the folks doing the scaring all seem to be under 30.
This fearsome table currently features Jason Mercier, Christopher George, Stuart Rutter, Dario Alioto and Bryan Micon. Look out, old timers!
