Hit the Deck

Cheery Lithuanian-dwelling American Woody Deck has had a rather bad day so far. "I'm getting f***ed," he said when we found him with just 5,700 chips early on, and no rebuy chips remaining.

Deck has made a slight recovery to 6,300, but it's still less than half his starting stack.

Steve Jelinek has an ingenious cure for the short-stacked blues, though.

"Just pretend you're in the 1,500."

Liebert Scoops with Nut-Nut

There were four limpers to Kathy Liebert on the last hand she played before she cashed in her remaining rebuy chips. Liebert, in the small blind, raised to 550. Three of the limpers called.

Liebert continued for 2,000 on a flop of {8-Clubs}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Action folded to the last-to-act player, who moved in for about 5,000. Liebert quickly called with a draw, {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. Her opponent turned up two pair, {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}. The {10-Clubs} turn and the {6-Diamonds} river gave Liebert the nut-nut to scoop the pot. She then cashed in her rebuy chips to top up to 28,000.

More Post-Dinner Counts

The players are all settled for another four hours of poker and the pesky red rebuy chips are gone, making stacks easier to count.

Bloch Out

Andy Bloch is busto. We didn't see the hand but we did see him offer to switch hats with Doyle Brunson on his way off the tournament floor.
