Welcome to Day 2!

Who wants it?
Who wants it?

Good afternoon and Welcome back to the 2010 World Series of Poker!

Today the Rio hosts a flurry of events, one of them being Day 2 of Event #53: $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout. Day 1 enticed 548 runners to play, some of whom busted from the $25,000 No-Limit event while others simply wanted to test their Limit mastery in a bracelet event.

Only 64 player remain, and they will be playing on eight eight-handed tables. Two of these players have already gone deep in a Limit event at this year's WSOP. Both Kirk Banks and Terrence Chan made Day 3 of Event #12. Chan made the final table finishing 3rd, while Banks fell just short and had to settle with a 12th place finish.

The action is set to kick off at 3 p.m. PST and we hope that you join us here at PokerNews.com for your exclusive live updates!

Disqualification

Every table today is eight-handed except for one; Table 315.

Seat 4 was supposed to be occupied by one Yueqi Zhu, but according to the tournament staff he has been disqualified from the event. They refused to give further comment however.

A few minutes later Jack Effel warned the the rest of the field, telling them that the shootout format will be respected. Players must win all the chips fairly at the table, not off.

"There is no deal making at the World Series of Poker," Effel said sternly.

The field is already down to 63 players, not due to play but rather disqualification.

Chop Chop

Cameron Kazemi started the action at Table 313 by raising from under the gun. Timothy Vansant put in a second bet from middle position, Theo Tran called in late position and after the blinds released so too did Kazemi.

The dealer fanned {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Kazemi checked, Vinsant bet and both Tran and Kazemi called.

The turn brought the {4-Spades}. Kazemi again checked and Vinsant again bet, but this time only Tran called.

The {2-Clubs} on the river went bet-call and Vinsant opened {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. The pot was chopped however when Tran tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for the same hand.

Jacks and Eights for Bonkowski

It was folded to Tyler Bonkowski on the button who two bet. Andre Braender called from the small blind, the big blind folded and the flop came down {8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

Braender check-called Bonkowski's bet. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}.

Again, Braender check-called Bonkowski's bet.

On the {8-Diamonds} river, both players checked.

Braender tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} which was no good against Bonkowski's {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Idema In Front

Noah Askarian raised from middle position and Daniel Idema defended his big blind.

Idema led the flop, {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, turn, {8-Hearts}, and river, {10-Spades}, and Askarian looked him up each time.

Askarian mucked when Idema opened {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} though, sending the pot to Idema.
