Some Curiousness on the Floor

Players are still registering for this event, and as there is a rule that states that late registrants can't sit down until the start of the next level, the 7pm starters should not have been allowed to take their seats until after the break.

Nevertheless at one table in the about-to-be-opened section, two players sat down and the dealer started to deal. Their first hand was a simple raise-and-fold affair, but on the second hand, around 2,000 chips had found their way into the middle before the floor realised what was going on. It was ruled that they could play the hand out and keep any chips they won (or, for the other guy, swallow any loss he incurred) but that the blinds that had been taken off the other players' stacks should be returned. It wasn't clear whether the blinds were going to come out of the stack of the winner of tht second hand or from somewhere else.

No More Negreanu?

We're not accountants, nor missing persons experts, but Daniel Negreanu is no longer sitting at his table and his seat has been filled by a new body. Our deductive reasoning has led us to believe that he has been eliminated from the tournament.

If Only...

Action had folded to Amnon Filippi in the button, who made it 250 to go. The small blind folded, but the big blind bumped it up to 3,100.

Filippi was quick to fold and said "ace ten" at which time his opponent showed a pair of sevens.

Upon seeing his opponent's cards, Filippi said, "Aw, if I knew you had those cards I would have called."

If only it were always that easy, Amnon, if only it were always that easy.

Elizabeth Back to Even

We arrived to the scene to see a board of {5-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Spades} with the player in the cutoff betting 1,100 into a pot of about 1,500. Shannon Elizabeth thought for a moment before making the call.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and Elizabeth bet 1,700. Her opponent tanked for some time before finally deciding to fold.

After winning the hand, Elizabeth has found herself with her staring stack of 7,500 to work with.

Maybe it Wasn't a C-Bet After All

Bryan Devomshire was in a pot against a player in the big blind with a raised flop reading {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Devonshire, who was acting under the gun, bet 225 into the flop and the big blind quickly raised it to 750.

After thinking for a moment, Devonshire three-bet to 2,125, which convinced his opponent to release his hand.

Boyan Buoyed Up

We arrived just in time to see the tail end of an all-in showdown. The chips had gone in on the {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-} flop, and when we arrived on the river, the newly busted gentleman was shouting something in a language that we didn't understand but we suspect it was obscene. He kicked his chair over and left.

Chair Kicker: {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Boyan Josic: {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The turn came a seven, making Mr. Chair Kicker a straight, but the river had brought a third club making them both flushes, Josic's ever so slightly higher.

Josic looks to be our early chip leader on an incredibly impressive 35,000 or so.

De Wolfe Eaten Up

Roland de Wolfe seems to have busted now - EPT Snowfest winner Allan Baekke is now in his former seat, to Phil Ivey's left. It can't be a terribly lucky seat though, as Baekke is down to 1,200 already. Wherever the chips are going, it's not to Ivey - he's on just a shade over his starting stack, on 8,000.
